I am also wondering if anyone has put in the hood side louvers over/In place of the stock hood vents. I'm not sure I like them sitting behind,

I did not. However if you look from side, they are approximately in line with where they suggest to put the center vent. Since Race Louvers has done some wind tunnel testing, I trusted their recommendations.

Thanks @tosha stupid question, but do they come with the rain trays? I assume so, but the website is short on details

No, I made these myself from a sheet of finest aluminum, procured from Home Depot racing supplies shelf 😄

I have corrected my previous post as I see how it could be misleading. The louvers don't come with any trays.

I don’t have a high quality picture yet but I just had the center vent put in. I’ve had the trackspec side vents for a few years now.

For those that installed their Race Louvers. How did you handle the double skin of the hood? Did you cut out a larger area so you could access the fasteners? Or drill larger access drill holes?

Funny you mentioned that. I didn’t realize that it would catch on the second skin. So right now it clamps on both at the same time. I started to take them out but it very secure so I won’t mess with it. Maybe down the road I will but it’s very solid. Your ideas will work

Which fasteners will you be using? I went with pop rivets and didn’t need to make any special provision for them. Clean install, no stoppers.

My plan was to originally to use rivets, but since the mach 1 hood stripe I ordered is on eternal back order with ford, I went with bolts so that I could remove the vent for the stripe and PPF install further down the line. The bolts proved to be troublesome because of the second skin. Had I planned ahead I would have cut the skin under the hood wider to allow access to the bolts.

I ended up getting various longer bolts, and bolting through both skins for the time being. Once the stripe and PPF go on, i'm debating switching to rivets, or doing more cutting or drilling, or the easiest option of leaving it alone.

Your build thread just gave me some inspiration.

Did you see any appreciable improvements in cooling after installing the hood louvers?

And here's how it currently looks, the extra touch I did was adding foam tape under the trim edges and rubber stripping to the cut edges.
