I’m really late but congrats on the beautiful Shelby and look forward to all your changes. Pictures as soon as you can. Love the color. It pops in the sunlight.
Today I picked up the car in a no contact manner. I had the shark fin antenna removed so that I can install the low profile antenna that I purchased a while ago.
I got the car home and got to work right away. Despite some of the comments that the car looked very clean, it had its problems. I began to remove the protective wrap on the carbon fiber wing and found on the vertical segments, there was a hairline crack on both sides that allowed air to enter and left a defect. I called the dealership immediately and we are working through a warranty replacement at this time. Another problem I found was with Penske's work. Not only did they leave compound splatter all over the car, but there were scuff marks from where the idiot polished the hood near where the stripes were painted on. I am extremely disappointed in the quality of the job by Penske. Certainly not worth $10k and the extra month it took. They left scuff marks in the paint and didn't bother to clean up after themselves. Message to Ford and Penske.... don't offer painted on stripes if you can't do them right or in a timely manner.
So otherwise, I got her washed up as best I could, worked the various problems, and then installed a set of signature SV801s.
I wasn't sure how the SV801 signature wheels were going to go with the car. I reached out to Terrance a while back and we brainstormed together to try and find that perfect wheel to go with a CFTP. I was a little uncertain how it was going to work, mostly due to the offset that was required to give the rear wheels enough lateral caliper clearance, but not bulge out of the wheel well too much. I believe Terrance hit the nail on the head.
The titanium lug nuts do not appear to be the correct size. This is probably due to the studs being shorter than expected. I'm going to reach out to Terrance and provide the measurements to see if a set of the correct size lugs can be had. Anyway, enjoy the photos and as soon as the car is back from xpel, the low profile roof antenna will be mounted and the mods will continue.
Stay tuned.....
Below is a video of the compound scratches left by Penske. Look at the light relection as the camera moves and watch it go from shiney to hazy where the compound marks were left from an incompetent Penske worker.
Congrats on the car and beautiful wheel choice. I have had 801s sitting in my garage for months waiting for my car to arrive and the wheels get just as many / more compliments than the car itself when I have it out. I love them. We'll see about cleaning them, Terrance did promise me he would clean them for me.
I'm glad she's home, Tom but beyond that, I don't have the words to express my sympathies. I am sure it will all get worked out and fortunately, the penske chit is fixable. The wing issue is ridiculous and I'm gonna take a closer look than I already have..geeze, that sux.
She looks good in the driveway along with her sister, though. :-)
