That is why I look at the shift pattern, where is Reverse?it is useful to find where the manufacturer hid the R gear on that particular model.

Sometimes it is also good to know how many gears do you have on your rented manual .For rental cars in Europe where the default is manual gearbox, it is useful to find where the manufacturer hid the R gear on that particular model. That’s 50% of the clue. Then you need to know if you have to push, pull or force slide to engage the R. Or lift up a decorative ring (crazy Renault designers).
While I get the joke, too bad it does not apply to Mach 1 (and with that to any Mustang) as the fastest gear is the 5th.My personal preference.
Do you find the extra weight helps your shifts? The weighted shift knob I use doesn't have a shift pattern on it. Gives it a nice clean look.
Actually I think it’s 4th. 5th &6th are overdrives. While I get the joke, too bad it does not apply to Mach 1 (and with that to any Mustang) as the fastest gear is the 5th.

Gear | Ratio |
1st | 3.25 |
2nd | 2.23 |
3rd | 1.61 |
4th | 1.24 |
5th | 1.00 |
6th | 0.63 |
Reverse | -2.95 |
Actually, you are right too and I should have worded it better. The "original" 2015 GT with MT-82 had 1:1 ratio on the 5th gear. In 2018 refresh Ford decided to change that with "MT-82 D4" with 1:1 on the 4th. On Mach 1 with Tremec they went back to the ratios closer to original 2015 GT (or GT350).Actually I think it’s 4th. 5th &6th are overdrives.
They decided to go pretty much straight on the center with the GT350 and the Carbon Sport shifters. I guess the Mach 1s are special. Is it just mine? Or are all M1 manual shift knobs off centered? Granted, it makes it easier to read the layout from the driver seat. But you really only need to read it once, so the convenience benefit gets old quickly, replaced by obsessive OCD.
The 5-6 are centered, but they should be on the right side of the print. No?
Yes. It makes the shifts feel a lot smoother.Do you find the extra weight helps your shifts?
