it is useful to find where the manufacturer hid the R gear on that particular model.
That is why I look at the shift pattern, where is Reverse?

Is everyone’s knob not a little offset to one side … ? :giggle:

Anyhow, moving on - I have two FP knobs and the gate pattern is centred with only the ‘R’ offset :like:

The weighted shift knob I use doesn't have a shift pattern on it. Gives it a nice clean look.

For rental cars in Europe where the default is manual gearbox, it is useful to find where the manufacturer hid the R gear on that particular model. That’s 50% of the clue. Then you need to know if you have to push, pull or force slide to engage the R. Or lift up a decorative ring (crazy Renault designers).
Sometimes it is also good to know how many gears do you have on your rented manual 🤣.

Actually I think it’s 4th. 5th &6th are overdrives.

Gear Ratio
1st 3.25
2nd 2.23
3rd 1.61
4th 1.24
5th 1.00
6th 0.63
Reverse -2.95
From Ford website on the Mach 1 ratio table. The tremec is different than the other manual transmission.

Actually, you are right too :) and I should have worded it better. The "original" 2015 GT with MT-82 had 1:1 ratio on the 5th gear. In 2018 refresh Ford decided to change that with "MT-82 D4" with 1:1 on the 4th. On Mach 1 with Tremec they went back to the ratios closer to original 2015 GT (or GT350).

Is it just mine? Or are all M1 manual shift knobs off centered? Granted, it makes it easier to read the layout from the driver seat. But you really only need to read it once, so the convenience benefit gets old quickly, replaced by obsessive OCD.

The 5-6 are centered, but they should be on the right side of the print. No?
They decided to go pretty much straight on the center with the GT350 and the Carbon Sport shifters. I guess the Mach 1s are special.
