Is this cracking dry rot? Concerning? Normal? Not sure what I am looking at.

Tires are original, delivered April 2019... under 8k miles... car does not get a lot of action unfortunately.

Only on the fronts.

They do appear to be drying out and cracking. What does the rest of the sidewall look like? Similar cracking?

Your probably ok for the rest of the season (assuming those are PS4S) but should probably consider replacing them in the spring. Michelin does warranty their tires so they might even give you a little $$ for the early cracking. 3 years seems a bit early to start showing dry rot

absolutely. EDIT - absolutely dry rot. Does the car sit outside in the cold or experience temperature changes? Wet & dry? I had Nitto DR on my prior Stang and saw the same thing. They should be ok for a bit, but I wouldnt go another season on those...

What is the date code on the tire? Perhaps the front are different than the back

Yep, that happens. My car is outside most of the year and although we don't see really low temps, we get our share of hot days. My rear tires are doing the same thing, but they are at the end of their lives. I have 40k on the rears so you will not hear me complain about my PS4S. However, I can tell you that once they get down to about 2 millimeters or so from the wear bars one can forget about them sticking to the road. Will be going square with new PS4S soon.

I checked the date codes.. All are 4918 or 5018 - which would indicate end of 2018. Not a long life!

Date code is 50/18 which is 50th week of 2018.
Then they are serviceable accordant to the DOM. But, it is unusual to have even minor rubber cracking on tire of that age. What does the tire shop say about them?

https://knowhow.napaonline.com/what-causes-tire-dry-rot/

" Tire dry rot happens when a tire’s rubber compounds slowly break down over time due to weather exposure, temperature fluctuations or physical wear."

  1. Avoid parking in direct sunlight for extended periods of time, as the UV rays can cause premature weathering.
  2. Never use harsh chemicals to clean your tires, as they could cause permanent damage. Stick with soapy water or purpose-made products.
  3. Maintain proper inflation to avoid blowouts and prevent excessive flexing as the tire rolls.
  4. Never overload your tires with more weight than is recommended.

The tires are nearly 4 years old. With higher performance comes more care requirements. I don't think that 4 years for micro cracking to appear is anything to be concerned about. Drive them until you feel there is a performance or safety drop or just replace them now for the peace of mind. That is just the way it is for those of us who don't keep our cars garaged.
