I've got a '21 GT with the HUGE engine cover, is it needed? What are the advantages or disadvantages of leaving it off?

Not needed. Just personal preference. Removing does make it a little easier to get to the dipstick IMO. Cover will work with a strut brace and it does hide some of the rats nest going on with the Coyote but I took mine off

I removed it the same day I drove the car home. Been sitting in the shed collecting dust.

I "trimmed" mine, took off the bat wings. Looks a lot better IMHO... And I agree ^^. It does make it a lot easier to check the oil.

It's not needed, but it does lower noise a trifle. Mine has been in my attic for 4 years.

It’s tough to make a good looking engine with newer stuff as it is, but damn, Ford just straight up didn’t even try on the gen3. They literally put zero effort into appearance. That probably explains the latest cover.

Thanks for the replies. Here's a photo of the cover for those who haven't seen it, I'm sure it has changed over the years. Mine is a December 2021 build '21 model.

The 15-17 cars have a different cover. The 18-23 cars are all the same, except the earlier years have a different colorway I believe

The addition of DI adds to the mess but yeah it’s a disaster. A few people have moved the battery and done a few other things to try to clean up the mess, but it’s an effort in futility IMO. Some folks have done some really cool stuff with their engine covers to make it look a little better

Mine looks cooler hanging on the garage wall.
I did that for a while LOL. Then I hacked it up and put the center part back on :)

Am I the only one that likes the look of the Gen 3 coyote sans cover?

Of course it's needed, who wants to see that ugly dipstick? Took mine off after the first oil check.
