Is there seriously no engine cover options for a Gen3 Coyote? ...

While BMW has a good overall execution - damn the OCD is bad when I see the right (driver side) CAI tubing, clamps, actual location of the air box being shorter and not tied equally in place by measurement and placement as the left side...

WTF BMW, it was only another 1/2" to make it look spot on...
That’s because one turbo sits farther back than the other under that cover by about an inch and a half. I imagine they tried with longer tubing to make it look even, but probably found there is some power losses due to it.

That tube you're referring to is actually the pressurized air tube coming out of the turbos and going into the water/air intercoolers before going down below to the intake manifold, which is on the outside of the engine vee. I doubt that extra half inch makes any performance difference at that point.

Interestingly I was watching a rerun Bitchin’ Rides a couple nights ago where they were doing a pretty serious freshen up on a previously restored ā€˜65 Mustang fastback. They did a Gen 3 Coyote transplant into the car, and then just bolted on what appeared to be a matching stock engine cover. I was surprised given how they usually detail the engine compartment but really it looked OK. I don’t think they even painted it.

I don’t know, maybe the customer ran out of money.

Its not the length of the tube, its the pressure of the manifold?

No clue, but I'm not the engineer that designed the engine. I do appreciate the 600+ hp though and don't notice if there is an issue with the length of the stock charge pipes.

We do get problems from time to time with these engines where the fault is essentially a bank to bank charging balance issue. That can be very difficult to diagnose, as they have a separate ECU / PCM for each bank.

Any idea of what season/episode that was?

Edit: found a still shot....

Compare that to this beautiful installation (Gen2 Coyote... so yeah...)

Looks like you got it but it was season 7 episode 1 ā€œEasy Does Itā€. I couldn’t believe they put a new custom built full frame under the car then used the stock engine cover but they sure did.

Sounded like they just wanted to "LS it" like they do everything else. In a Ford, I would definitely go Coyote as well.

I agree. I’ve always been a GM man up until this Mustang, and as you know there have been countless small blocks put in Fords over the years. Nobody ever questioned it. But given what the Coyote is and can do that would have just been wrong here.

Truth be told I’m becoming kind of a hog for this Coyote platform. Just think about the power they get out of only 5 liters. It’s pretty amazing!

I'm a former GM guy as well. Many cars and trucks, including an original LS1 F-body. I'm not really onboard w/ putting an 350 SBC into a Ford, either. The cost savings over a 351W is miniscule, if *any at all*... Not sure where the argument came from, but a 351W and the Chevy 350 have basically identical power potential based on how they're built, and I just don't believe the hype about a 350 being that much cheaper.

The reason (and only way that) LS engines are cheap is junkyard take-outs, and that will dwindle over time as well (just as it will with the Coyote). Taking a junkyard motor from a 5 year old vehicle is a different ballgame than pulling out a 20 year old motor with questionable history. You are then into rebuilding it and you may as well have started out with something nicer.

To be fair i am a bit distracted by the yellow dealership protectors on it... xD Or does he keep the window sticker on too? Or just unwilling to read the owners manual?

i despise that plastic food tray in the 18+ Mustangs, if i had one, would be the first ... "weightsaving" mod i would do.
i would like some coil covers or fuel line coers like gen1-2 coyotes had.
