My neighbor had a Tesla Model 3 base. I asked him to take me for a ride. He threw me the keys and said "you drive". As stated, it is weird driving with no sound. He told me to nail it from a dead start. I did so and immediately took my foot off the pedal cause I thought I broke something. The massive acceleration at 0 MPH was like God hit the back of the car with a giant sledge hammer!!! He laughed and told me to do it again and keep my foot down. WOW! WOW!!!!!
The beauty of the electric motor is that it makes max torque at low rpm and max power at high rpm.

I live in New Jersey and effective this year, when you go to register your Ev for the usual cost of $39.50, there is now a $250.00 additional yearly charge for all Ev's. It increases to $290.00 over the next four years. No additional charge for hybrids. About time the Ev's started paying towards the upkeep of the roads that your gas taxes pay for. Plus, the EV's, being substantially heavier than an ICE car, cause more damage to the roads.

Tenn has something similar with grabbing their money on the EV registration.

At three times the price of GT it better be good. At least getting 20% more weight haha.

I always find it funny when people have such hate for EVs and claim it’s because they are “being forced on people”. Hate the forces not the vehicle that outperforms 🫡. Or “they have no soul” Umm okay, whatever that means, don’t buy one lol.
Most sensible EV related comment on this forum that I've seen so far. Thank you

Yep…. I saw that too when we renewed registration for a few vehicles and the little notice was in the envelope…. Doesn’t apply to us because we are never going EV, BUT I agree with exactly what you said…

EV’s are a liability:
- Heavier
- Infrastructure was not built years ago to handle the additional weight of EV cars OR trucks OR delivery vehicles OR Semis
- Parking garages were not designed to support the additional weight of any mass EV parking
- total fire hazard that when ablaze can’t be put out by traditional means and is left to burn out. EV fires not only cause a total loss of the vehicle but has caused total losses of parking structures, other vehicles, houses, businesses, and loss of even multi million dollar cargo transport ships that have sunk…
- loss of charging station infrastructure when major storms blow through and flood regions
- salvage facility and recycling nightmares
- shit resale value

This thread will go south quickly.

However, having owned a EV (Model S) and a 800hp Mustang. They are both great for their intended purposes. I’d agree that the silence of EVs is quite an adjustment but the bang for buck acceleration is unparalleled.

The E-Tron GT is one of the best looking EVs out IMO. Second only to a plaid.

Great looking rides OP!
For me, nada, but; to each their own. People either love them or hate them.

Hello; had the powers that be left EV's to compete in a fair way with other forms of transport the so called "hate of EV's" would not be an issue. However, no ICE sale date certain mandates and overly generous taxpayer funded buying incentives do exist. On top of these reasons to be upset with authorities are the varying attacks on proven power generation and transportation fuels. Do not be miss led in that I and others do not know who to "hate".

The EV is an appliance as another member wrote. A few years ago, a friend was fuming about the looming ban on incandescent light bulbs. I was eager to get them myself and did so as the price became reasonable. At first for my aquariums so as to reduce the heating effect. Now in most of my home. But after a while I understood my friend's point of view. The being forced is the rub all by itself and is sufficient reason to push back. My point is I did not have to be forced into LED lights simply because they make less heat and are more efficient ( more lumens per unit of electricity)
The EV is not up to the task for most folks. Multiple reasons, all of which have been thoroughly discussed. For those few who have the extra cash and can have a home charger and can have an ICE for the tough times, an EV can sort of work.
But make no mistake, I know who to hate.

Calling an EV green is one of the biggest scams of my lifetime.
Hello; For numerous reasons I do agree with this.

Hello; as I stated, be mad at the “powers that be”.

So many people here hate on EVs simply because they outperform their American sports cars. Not for the reasons you’ve listed. (Waits for “not on a road course!!” From people who’ve never driven on a road course”)

A buddy of mine picked up an Audi RS E-Tron and let me drive it yesterday. The acceleration was off the charts, so now I can see all the fuss about EVs, but the lack of any sound was very strange and made me feel disconnected from the car. Hard to describe but the car was unbelievably fast!

I grabbed a couple of pics of my good old fashioned ICE car next to the EV. I'll stick with my Bully but the EV was very luxurious.
