I use this HANS. It's not carbon, so it's a little heavier than some, but it's adjustable, comfortable, built well and doesn't break the bank.

If anyone is in the market for a HANS, I would recommend the “Stand 21” brand. That manufactured HANS units (in France I believe) under license and once the license expired, they just made their own models under their name. High quality, strong as hell and half the price.

Same here. I found myself bracing against the door and using the steering wheel to keep myself in place when I was just using the stock 3 point. With the quickfit pro I'm very relaxed, well secured, and can focus on driving. I picked up a ton of time after installing them.
this .... same, same.

Thoughts on the Shelby 5-point with rollbar in OEM base model seats? Safety, etc?

Or is Schroth Quickfit with the 2-add-on straps better?
Its SFI rated so your good there.

If you're using an OEM seat I wouldn't go this route (Personally) unless you cut a whole in your seat. At that point why not just buy a seat that fits this function?

I ran a Schroth quick fit for 2 season and it worked well. I'm unfamiliar with the 2 add-on straps though. The beauty of the Schroth Quick fit is the ASM function. Anything that deletes that function isn't worth pursuing IMO.

Pardon my negligence, what is ASM?

Roger will use Scroth then. I am keeping stock seats for now until I can fully understand how to remove the airbag warning light that will appear (I suck at fuses/electrical). Plus I have heard a lot of "DO NOT use a fixed back seat in your daily without harness/rollbar/helmet as well, as it doesn't have that fold back thing when in a wreck" (fold back thing...my brain is not working today. must be the heatwave).

Let me edit this post with the 2 addon strap link, hold please.

ASM is Anti-Submarining. It's the action of you sliding under your lap belt in the event of a impact. This is negated through a Crotch belt(s) or in the case of Schroth, they implement threads that break to let your upper body come forward instead of down.

Once you have an impact with the Schroth units you have to throw them away, FYI.

For your airbag light, follow this tutorial:

The swap is not hard, I would recommend soldering the 2.2 ohm resistor well. Also get the Ford OEM seat belt extensions (Free) and cut the belts off and put them in the seat belt receiver when using your harness on-track.

it's just rebadged stuff. Isn't that a Watson bar?
In any event this setup REQUIRES head restraints.

Personally I think the sensible option for most people is Schroth, unless you're hard-core and buy ALL of the pieces needed.

IMO it is grossly negligent for Shelby to advertise that setup without GIANT FONT pointing out the necessity of head restraint.

@CobaltFilly , you got a HANS right?

If not, look into Stand21. They were a licensed manufacturer for HANS brand but their license expired so they started producing under their own name. It a quality part.

Fresh to the sport and very young, trying to learn everything I can and not buy things twice.
So no, will grab one of those. Heard about them and have them high on my list of what to get next for car after brake cooling and better pads.

If you're going that far, go 6, not 5. Getting cinched up by your nuts in an impact just adds to a really shitty day.

If you're running a 5 or a 6 point, you need a HANS. You're probably better off with a standard 3-point harness if you don't have a HANS, because it really sets you up for a basal skull fracture.
