You don't feel that any part of the drive line needs broken in ?
Unless you get the car right off the assembly line, most of the "break-in" is long done by the time you get it at the dealer. Between the stuff that goes on at the plant, the shipping process and whatever the dealer does there's going to be plenty of time for things to break in so there's very little for you to do and wait for.

I'm assuming that the automatic tranny will shift before the rev limiter kicks in. But, I will take it to the local drag strip a couple of times. There isn't any road course tracks anywhere me.
You can bet your ass on it, even in track mode. It’s very frustrating. I’d like for mine to hit redline using WOT in track mode with TC off, but about 7K is all it will do. Strange because my 2020 GT A10 will redline every time under the same circumstances. Having said that, this car is only up to about 800 miles so maybe a little more time.. and maybe drag strip mode, I don’t know.

I guess I’m saying that with an A10 you’re gonna have a hard time hitting the limiter anyway, short of going into straight paddle shift mode and trying to time your paddle manipulation perfectly. Which IMO isn’t that easy because by that point things are happening so fast it’s hard to keep your eyes on the tach and the road too.

My experience, but YMMV. I had a Whipple installed by Ford. The mechanic told me to break it in up to the 1000 miles. Now maybe thats cuz of the Whipple and maybe not, I didnt ask.
Also to consider is does the manufacturer recommend a 1000 mile break in? If they do they can tell when you exceeded the recommended RPM before that 1000 miles and perhaps tell you the warrantee is void

Break it in the way you plan to drive it.
1) This.
2) And always give it a time to warm up properly.

For the rest, I would have expected (hoped) that Ford redlined the engine before putting it into a car. Then I would have expected they did some tests of the complete drivetrain as well. So it would not explode or something. The rest is just a wear and tear. The old school break-in is not possible with current technologies, materials and tolerances.

day one off the dealer's lot and as soon as the the engine temp stabilzed i did three easy pulls to mid tach with compression braking back down each pull. then three moderate pulls to moderate tach with full compression braking back down. then three wide open pulls to redline with compression braking. i averaged 11 mpg on the 1st tank. every tank thereafter sees redline at least once. i also hpde and autocross occasionally. today the car runs fantastic with very little oil consumption at 30k. i also changed the oil and filter (pup 5w30) as soon as i got it home.

I hammered mine pretty good but never redlined for the first 800 miles. Then all bets were off because I couldn’t wait until 1000 miles. Now I’m at 1050 miles, did my first oil change, and this thing gets beat on daily.

Not really in my estimation. Someone who likes to argue will be along shortly to post that little sentence or two from the owner’s manual but to me itā€˜s more of an afterthought or suggestion than anything else. If Ford had been very serious about a break-in period it would be prominently featured in the manual headed in big bold type, with a lot more detail. Heck, I never even saw it until somebody posted it here. I have therefore ignored it and will continue to do so.

My thought is treat the car respectfully and don’t piss-beat it but enjoy it and drive it from the git like you’re always going to. You’ll be just fine.

Are you worried about actually hitting the limiter?

If you have the car in drive it will shift for you so you won't hit the limiter.
If you have the car in sport and are using the paddle shifters you will need to upshift but you wont need to downshift.

And hitting the limiter isn't going to break the car instantly. The opgs are a weak link but Ford tried to make this engine pretty beefy and it should handle a good amount of abuse when stock. When modifying the car you want to be careful with the limiter.

I personally do not. LOL. My shift happens between 7900-8100 depending on many factors.

The gen 2/3 Coyote is more stout than you think. My build isn’t a stock rotating assembly anymore either.
