Just turned over 1,000 miles. Can I redline ? I hope to never see redline rpm, but curious how many miles I need before I'm able too ?
50,000 miles later on my 2020 and about 80% of the time was me beating the ever loving dog crap out the coyote. She still goes strong. Tuned, headers. NA

When you personify a mechanical device because you don't understand it, It becomes very easy to come to incorrect conclusions.
Or you read the user's manual and heed the device usage instructions instead of reading myths in the forums 😁

I’m sure I’ve hit it in more than one of mine but damn if I’ve seen anything go red. Is it something I need to turn on or does it only work with certain gauge configs?

This is a bit long but basically the rings are seated in the first half hour. So engine is broken in before it ever gets to you. Ford spins the assembled car on a dyno roller as it goes through final inspection.

"Babying your engine is the worst thing you can do" It needs load.

I didn't baby it, but I didn't bounce the needle either. It has over 1,000miles now, so I will be hitting it pretty hard a couple times. I have built and rebuilt too many engines (motorcycles and muscle cars) over the past 45+ years and even though I know full well that present day engines/drivetrains are nowhere near what my 1970 Cuda has, I show them respect and don't trash them in any form the 1st day.

Not really in my estimation. Someone who likes to argue will be along shortly to post that little sentence or two from the owner’s manual but to me it‘s more of an afterthought or suggestion than anything else. If Ford had been very serious about a break-in period it would be prominently featured in the manual headed in big bold type, with a lot more detail. Heck, I never even saw it until somebody posted it here. I have therefore ignored it and will continue to do so.

My thought is treat the car respectfully and don’t piss-beat it but enjoy it and drive it from the git like you’re always going to. You’ll be just fine.
Last time I thought a break in was important was my 1991 Harley, lol.

Are you worried about actually hitting the limiter?

If you have the car in drive it will shift for you so you won't hit the limiter.
If you have the car in sport and are using the paddle shifters you will need to upshift but you wont need to downshift.

And hitting the limiter isn't going to break the car instantly. The opgs are a weak link but Ford tried to make this engine pretty beefy and it should handle a good amount of abuse when stock. When modifying the car you want to be careful with the limiter.
Hit the limiter several times at track attack with the A10. Everybody loved it including the instructor, lol.

Were you on auto or manual Mode when you hit the limiter? I did a pull from a dig over the weekend when a scat lined up next to me. I have the stage 2 whipple on the whipple tune. I was in normal mode with trac off , My screen lit up red as my wheels were losing a bit of traction , not sure if it hit the limiter or it was because the whipple tune adds 300 more rpm .

I was in Auto Sport but in the cornering exercise I accidentally hit the paddle. Did not know how to reset. (I think you pull both paddles together) not going to happen in between the cones! Everyone cracked up including the instructor, Allison. Makes a hell of a racket and sure did startle me the first time. I was only one of 2 A10s at Mach 1 Track Attack.

I am not sure if I hit the limiter this time but my screen lit up, I believe its because of the added 300 RPM from my tune. I have hit the limiter in sport one time by accident , but I let off right away.
Hopefully when on normal drive auto it shifts before.
Thanks
