Soft compound tires AKA summer only tires, don't last as long as all season tires bult for long tread life.
20k is about it on soft compound if you babied them. Half that if you drive the performance car like it was built/designed for.
My tires are going on almost 6 years old, they'll age out before the tread wears out.
The truck has 54k on the Hanooks and going on 7 y/o. most likely be replacing them in the next few month as the tread is fine for dry and normal rain, but snow not enough left for that . Tires are cheaper than a totaled vehicle.

At 3/32”, I’d consider changing them out. I never wait until I hit the wear bars. 3/32” is plenty worn IMO.

I had good year eagles on my S197 3.7L Mustang and thought they were a decent tire, but I also don't hate the P Zero's that came on my 2022 GT (that seem to be universally hated on this forum) so maybe don't listen to my opinion lol

True, and I guess it's particularly exacerbated on soft summer/high performance tires. My Jeep sits outside perpetually and I had some Cooper tires go 6 years on that and still look healthy (other than patch jobs, sidewall gash from trails, etc.)

Florida.

Heat and humidity can be very punishing on tires. Several storage articles I've read, from Michelin and others, highlight how conditions seen in FL and similar climates can be some of the most challenging to maintain the integrity of the compounds over time, especially if at rest.

I understand the car is garage kept, but the intensity of the UV exposure in FL and states in the same latitude is an additional factor.

And at six years, it's time to replace the tires anyway. Tire compounds naturally degrade no matter how kept. Maybe not to the physical extent yours have, but the performance of those materials becomes less and less effective over time.

Given the physical crackling of the tread, age and location, seems like a good time for a new set.

My 19GT has ~17.8kmi and I have the original Pilot Sport 4S, the tread still looks fine but they all look like this...
Garage kept too.

Mine on my 2019 GT PP are starting to look like that too. 5000 miles on them. Contis are in my future lol.

I got 27,000 miles out of a set of Firehawk daytona 500. Front inside to the wear bars and all of the rear to the wear bars. All stock gt with H pipe, SVE PP2 replica 19x10, 19x11 in 285/35R 325/30.

I was going to keep quiet and just see what responses you got, but mine are the same ...

Treat the sidewalls with something, let it really soak in, wipe it off, then go for a spirited drive.

You will probably find (like mine) that the sidewalls are covered in very small cracks (like crazy paving), and the first indication I got that it had started, was the dark wet spots where the dressing leached back out.

Similar age, similar mileage, and yes, Conti's are in my (very) near future ... :like: I even bought new wheels to go with them ... :giggle: (I had always wanted rid of the PP1 wheels, but didn't want to swap out the tyres unnecessarily).

Yeah they are definitely done. I am planning to get SVE DHP1 forged wheels and tires from LMR, just wanted to pay my car off first (1 payment left!) but I'd be joking if I said seeing the price of Indy 500 tires being almost double what they were when I bought them in 2018 for my old CF5Vs on my 2018GT (RIP) isn't a little insane. I refuse to waste money on new tires for the PP wheels, I absolutely despise them.

Goodyear Engineering guys that came to national events told us years ago, that small hair checking on the side wall of their drag race tires
(fronts primarily, cuz the rears never even stay on car long enough to do it)
is just to hold the lettering on the tires, & is irrelevant to its integrity. Even the NHRA & IHRA tech guys wouldn't bounce you for that look on a sidewall.

Nobody pushed it to far though, & usually had new Front Runners put on at the Goodyear semi, (but were angling for a free replacement set, as many felt they were defective - & yeah.... professional race teams are often some of the cheapest phvcks around)

This would come up quite often because those tires would often 'check' (hair line cracks) in less than 2/3s of a racing season, & guys felt they were not getting their money's worth, & complained.

I don't have a dog in this one... just repeating what the GY guys who design these tires told us... they clearly didn't want to warranty them, either.

1/32" means the tire is already done.
Yes, I believe 2/32" is considered worn out. At 2/32" you will see the wear bars across the tread width at intervals around the tire, anywhere between 5-6 wear bars.

Don't you mean Firehawk Indy 500 tires, not Daytona. Those are the ones I wanted to put on my car next but the only Firestone store that we had in the state closed the other year so now the closest store is in Fort Collins, CO.

You could probably order them if those are the ones you really want and have a local shop install if the price is still good. Those are my go to street tires. Got a new pair going on the rear Sunday.

Leaving tyres until they are nearly worn out is crazy on a high performance car, they are all that keep your pride and joy shiny side up and a sudden down poor is soon going to show you why you should have replaced them a few thousand miles ago.
Some manufacturers recommend tyres are replaced at 5 years old even if the tread is still legal.
I borrowed a friends Focus a couple of years ago and got caught in a rain storm, it was like driving on sheet ice. When I looked at the tyres they all were legal but only just.
Three things never to scrimp on are tyres, brakes and insurance what.
