How clean is your s550 mustang?

Keeping the undercarriage clean in a way is more important than the shinny side. The bottom is where all the functional stuff is. What's the point of keeping the top shinny and clean if the bottom side rusts out on you.

Again, in terms of rust prevention, I get that. But to clean it for the sake of "keeping the dust off"...makes no sense to me.

This will make you all feel better about your car if it’s not spotless. First winter it has had to sit outside in 9 years. Had to move last fall and no garage now. At least I’m in a carport. My detailer said don’t cover it, as wind chafing will damage the paint. Only another month then it can be cleaned.

Ya, as soon as the mess is off the roads, Autoquest is getting it for a full detail and new ceramic, its getting worn off, can't just rinse it and be clean anymore. This is the first snow it's ever seen, and sitting in -20 c, oh man just sad!! But don't drive it in the snow, so the underside is probably cleaner than topside now. Some nice shiny vehicles there, keep up the good work guys and gals.

I know everyone has their thing and people love what they love and it only has to make sense to them but help me understand....cleaning the undercarriage??

I get the functional side of this in areas that are prone to rust but to clean it just to clean it? It's not something one would interact with regularly let alone even see on a daily basis.

Not trying to be a jerk. Genuinely looking for understanding.

I find myself hiding in the garage.... I mean working in my garage... Its on a lift so when the significant other comes out I've got to make it look like I'm doing something. Get caught a few dozen times and you'd be surprised how clean the underside gets...

Mine stays really clean, my neighbors roll their eyes when they see me out on a Saturday morning with my ritual . Maybe not the undercarriage quite that much. But it always gets a bath after a weekend outing if at all possible, or very quickly thereafter as I can... It hurts my feelings to park in the garage dirty... BUT, I do go out on the weekends and drive, sometimes hard. To me getting it dirty is only half the fun, the cleaning is the other half and very therapeutic...

I'll preface this by saying this is just my opinion.

That said, cleaning the undercarriage is a very good way of monitoring & tracking the wear & tear on your vehicle.

Other than your maybe your tires, the undercarriage is the part of your vehicle that has the most direct exposure to the road and the elements.

It only makes sense to me, to routinely clean & inspect it.

I don't think there is a much better way to discover potential issues, before they really have a chance to develop into problems.

Just fine. I do run snow tires which definitely helps. Just have to go easy on the throttle from a stop
