That's a unique perspective! How was that Coyote swap? Would love to hear more about that.
Don't want to derail the thread, though in short it was the easiest engine swap I've done from a mechanical perspective, everything bolts right in. Though electronically it was the toughest due to the CAN networks needing to be fully functional for the stock wiring and functionality to work.

Consider the age bracket and demographic you associate with. If under 35, educated, and socially aware a GT is suicide LOL.

It's best to get a GT and an HPP!
I am under 35 educated and work a office type job haha. I think what you are referring to is for people living in California šŸ˜€

I read somewhere Carroll Shelby called it a "Secretary's car" before Ford convinced him to build a race car with it 🤣
@AvalancheSVT thats a mean-looking machine. Did you buy it yet?? šŸ‘

Edit: nvm looks like you decided on a GT. I don't think you can lose either way, both are great
Just go watch Ford vs Ferrari if you haven't he does say that line in the movie, and btw watch it anyway if you haven't. That movie is FANTASTIC!

I'm in the camp that a muscle car has to be a V8 (with my only exception being the old Grand Nationals). I grew up with several Fox bodies and I remember the stigma of those who got the 4cyl. It just wasn't a Mustang TO ME -- it was to appeal to the people who wanted to look like they drove a muscle car when they didn't (and they sold volume).

There is something about driving a V8 Mustang, Camaro, Challenger, etc. that is unrefined, raw, visceral, aggressive, dangerous, etc. It's the heaviness of the car, the way the torque picks up the front end when you tap the gas at mid-rpm. It's just the way it drives -- like a sedan with too much horsepower and too much torque. The S550 is a little less torque'y due to the drive-by-wire throttle but it's still an experience. The way the car is trying to kill you if you're not careful. That's the fun of a muscle car.

In MY PERSONAL PREFERENCE, If I wasn't going to get into a V8 Mustang, I would select a more nimble 4/6 cyl car that is meant to be more refined etc. like a European sports car etc. The Mustang really isn't the best "sports" car platform. It's big, long, heavy. It works as a muscle car -- that is the definition.. but sports car there are better options if you're looking for that with a smaller engine.

Active Exhaust in Track mode, top down on a summer night on a backroad with a lush tree canopy all around, drop to 2nd and slide into WOT and I have an experience that is just all American muscle. The barking of the exhaust, the screaming of the V8, the trees flying by with the exhaust echoing off all the leaves... it's the complete package FOR ME. That's the Mustang experience.
I totally agree with you. You wrote a great visual story, love it.

Seconded. Everyone at my office drives Audi, Mercedes, BMW or other high end luxury cars.
You guys thought I was kidding LOL Here is just a quick sample as I was walking to my car. Oddly enough the Acura NSX wasn't parked there today but I love parking in between all the luxury cars.

Sometimes I even fire it up remotely when I see them walking around it checking it out if I happen to be heading back to it. Had a lady drop her purse the other week.

Wait till the GT500 hood, Spoiler and Stripes go on it. Nothing else like it parks on that floor.

My colleague's 2021 GT500 was traded for a Jaguar F-Type R so even he doesn't have anything like it 🤣 🤣 🤣 .

If going 4 cyl Turbo, I would get a 2022 VW Golf R. It will best a HPP Mustang on the track and at the strip. Does not sound as good as the HPP, but that can be fixed. The R also costs more - more on par with the GT. It also has a much better interior and utility. The Mustang does beat it out in sportiness looks wise, but for what it is, the R is a much better "sportscar" than the HPP. I have it on my list of possible next cars....whenever new cars are actually available again (probably next year when the recession sets in).

Anyway as others have said, get what you want and don't worry so much about want others think.

At the garage I go to for oil changes, one of the guys saved his money up and bought a brand new Golf R.

Everything went wrong with it. Including the engine imploding.

That is odd....never heard of an engine imploding before .

Aside from my Mustang I have two VW's one is a 2002 337 and a 2008 R32 (and a Porsche). In all the years of using them, modding them and hanging out with others that have owned sporty VW's, I have not come across anyone that has had their engine implode unless they were trying to add too much boost. Every OEM can produce lemons....that guy was just unlucky. My 337 with its tiny 1.8L has about 270 hp and 300 tq on just some relatively cheap bolt ons and tune. It has been setup that way for about 65k miles and has seen many laps at the track. I see several that have BT and 300+ hp and run just fine. The R32's VR6 engine will outlast the sun.

I think you are mistaking VW's electrical problems for engine issues because the engines are pretty darn bullet proof if taken care of properly. No different than the coyote IMHO. I will say that most VW's require more regular maintenace than most cars, but that is a German thing in general. Window regulators, wiper motors, alternator and pretty much any other simlar electrical part will need to be replaced.:frown:

Definitely not looking to derail either, just wondering if you have this posted in another thread with more detail as it is an intriguing topic
A few posts here and there about the process, but not a fully detailed writeup. Essentially there is very little knowledge out there on the topic since even dealerships only have a protocol for replacing a single module, and even then they generally grab all the info from the old one to write onto the new one. But what do you do when you're changing out 3/4 of the modules and trying to marry them with the other existing ones? Or another practical application is a flood damaged car, what do you do when wiring and many modules are toast and you can't inhale the info from the old ones? In my case a lot of trial and error and definitely some luck.

99% if drivers are damn texting now. I am a motorcycle rider and hit almost daily. Literally every single person has phone up in air in front of them not looking at Road, also, like 80% of them who are texting also have AirPods in their ears

i don’t understand the airpod shit. Like why the fuk do you need them when you have speakers? But fact is these people are the ones merging in on me and I’m right beside them.

also, no tickets ever given out for this anymore. Just accepted. Makes me so mad. Distracted driving is terrible,

i don’t even think people will buy manuals because they want to give 0 attention to driving, just texting.

i legit saw a girl with a fucking iPad tied to her steering wheel, like a legit dedicated iPad mountdead center steering wheel. It was late at night and she was legitly playing solitaire while driving down road. Shit was so bright I was like omg are you serious?!?
Tbh, that’s why I stopped riding. Too many distracted drivers. Add in that people don’t really look for bikes to begin with.
