Folks,

I wanted to draw your attention to a local fellow building a twin-turbo Mach 1. I had the opportunity to chat with him at a racing event; he has a clear vision for the car and the mechanical knowledge to get it done. I don't believe he is on the forums, perhaps we can change that together? :fingerscrossed:

Just wanted to say thank you both for the kind words. I honestly should have had a better presence on the forums before but Tom posting this will be a great catalyst. I'll be doing my last bit of racing this weekend with my wife while the Mach 1 is naturally aspirated and hopefully diving into the twin turbo installation starting on Sunday. I'll keep this post updated with pictures as I make progress.

Welcome to the forum, I have enjoyed watching you and your wife race, along with the modifications you have done on your Mach. Really looking forward to the turbo set-up as well.

Quick update: This weekend I started to install the kit. So far I got the driver side Hellion 4 into 1 header installed, oil feed installed, and passenger side header in place but not tightened. I definitely learned a few things. First the instructions are lagging a bit. Looks like the oil feed connection has been updated. This requires you to re route the oil pressure sensor wiring a bit. Second header bolt access is a PIA. I wound up having to pull 4 manifold studs on the passenger side to get the factory manifold out. I pulled the starter too for more access. Here are some pictures comparing the stock pass side manifold to the Hellion 4-1. Note the larger collector diameter and smoother transitions vs the stock style.

you might have to grind down on the o2 sensor block off on the pass side I had to on my gt350 using the 4 in one headers also I took all the studs out and went with the stage 8 locking bolts made install way easier

Thats good to know. I just got them mocked up on that side with a couple of studs in and a nut partway tight to keep the header from falling. Ill have to take a look and see. When you did yours was the oil feed somewhat janky? Mine is multiple pieces together (i.e., adapter for onring fitting, SS hose, tee, another adapter, etc. I undid the oil pressure sensor wiring and re reouted it on the other side of the alternator.

Its a 64 with a 302 out of an 80s pickup. Its been a super reliable fun driver. I swapped the carb and the AOD for a T5 and its really fun to drive. Eventually I want to redo the heads, roller cam, etc. but parts are currently scarce and somewhat expensive. It was almost the project I went with before deciding to go TT on the Mach 1. I have some videos and a dyno on my YT channel

So maybe they changed the sensor style for the Mach 1 (or its a model year thing). I also noticed when removing the starter mine appears to have 3 bolts vs. 2 so apparently some minor changes. Heres what mine looks like (I prefer your setup)

all starters are 3 bolt but yeah not a big fan of how they set that adapter up but it looks like the mach 1 has metric orb threads where the gt350 Is a pipe thread for the ops

It's funny you mention that. I was out racing last weekend. In stock form the Mach 1 is way underpowered for those events. I lined up next to an Underground Racing Lambo. He had twin turbos and a sequential air shifter. I told him I planned to cheat and jumped the start line early, he toyed with me for a second, and finally toasted me. I'm not sure the turbos will put much of a dent in the Gaptism I received but it will certainly help :)
