Ford just announced the GT350R weighs 3650 pounds at a media event being held at Grattan race track right now... :headbang:

I'll post some of the pics and stuff I see on the interwebs in a bit but just wanted to get this news out there.

I wonder if this means the gt350 will weigh close to 3800....hopefully they manage to keep it under 3800. I remember reading the r would save 140lbs. So 3790 for the non r lol?

Ford has said the GT350R is more than 130 pounds lighter than the GT350 track pack model so we are at least looking at a 3780 pound GT350 with track pack.

Dang. I assumed the R would be lighter. Still bad ass though. I like that avalanche with black stripes with red pinstripes.

seems a bit heavy, is that a fully loaded R? or base R?

I have a 15 GTPP Non Premium that I have set up for SCCA solo autocross in F Street.
It has 22 pound wheels and a very light custom fabricated cat back exhaust system on it. I ran it across the SCCA scales during impound and with a 1/4 tank of gas it weighed 3,547 pounds. I was very surprised that it was so light so I asked them to recalibrate the scales and then re weigh it. It weighed 3,547 the second time across as well.

I suspect that the R will weigh much less than 3,650 based on my experience with my 15 GTPP non premium car.

My guess was 3760 for the gt350 with TP and 3630 for the R was close, but I wasn't expecting it to be more tho. It just shows it's hard nowadays to make a street legal track car light weight. ThePill, we'll never mind.

Hmmmmm, so 200 lbs more than an M4 for the non-R GT350. I'm slightly disappointed but I can't say I'm surprised.

Take 150ish more lbs. off as far as feel goes. Those wheels are going to make a big difference in how it hides its weight.

Why are most of you disappointed and surprised by this? Without a heavy use of carbon fiber and aluminum parts, how much lighter do you guys think they can make this? What, you expected the car to be 3000 pounds? The weight of the car seems reasonable for the few light weighting they did to it.
