Why are most of you disappointed and surprised by this? Without a heavy use of carbon fiber and aluminum parts, how much lighter do you guys think they can make this? What, you expected the car to be 3000 pounds? The weight of the car seems reasonable for the few light weighting they did to it.
3000lbs, not hardly:doh:

If a base GT can weight 3700 with 1/4 to 1/2 talk, the thought was this car could come in at 3550-3600 lbs or a tad less. Again, we don't know if this was a full tank of gas or 1/4 tank.

This was my own figuring and assumptions.

I was really hoping for the R in the 3550 range with the track pack car sub 3700...and they did use quite a bit of aluminum and carbon

Carbon/composite bumbper beam, intake mani, oil pan

Aluminum front bumper beam, suspension arms.

Either way, I will get it on a set of scales once it arrives.

Can someone tell me why there are multi colored hearts flying out of the pause button while I'm watching this vid. After all this isn't some Hello Kitty vid...
I think it is some trance like process. A mood relaxing trance.

Reading the comments were fun, too.

One dude kept saying the car had a supercharger or turbo. One kept saying "drift" over and over over.

Not a lightweight, but not terrible either. I'm neither shocked or surprised. Pretty much feel it fell in line with educated guesses...

So we don't know for sure, but we'll have to assume that the 3650 Lbs is for a no-option GT350R...as in the lightest spec. Electronics package will add more weight back in...maybe weigh in around 3700 Lbs? Give or take 10 lbs...I'm sure thePill can do some math for us.

Does anyone know how much a GT Base with PP and Recaro weighs? I ask this because it seems as though it will be lighter than a comparably (or maybe even base) GT350.

But, considering all the content you're getting, performance and otherwise, it's really not that bad.

What I'd REALLY like to know is how much a GT350 with Technology package weighs...

Take 150ish more lbs. off as far as feel goes. Those wheels are going to make a big difference in how it hides its weight.
Agreed and I saw tweets where Ford kept showing the stand alone wheels probably emphasizing that fact.

How does Ford (US) measure weight? If the weight includes driver than its not that bad.

I really think that the car will feel like it weighs 3500lbs. Unfortunately, I'd never be able to get a car without AC and enjoy it. So, the R I'd be able to own would probably weigh 100lbs. more since AC only comes with the electronics package. I wish they would offer AC as a stand alone option! I couldn't care less about having a stereo, touchscreen, blah blah blah. It's 102° where I live today with 75% humidity. AC is a must.
