I apologize if I've overlooked this in the thread, but what is causing the factory engine cover to not fit? Is it clearance (brace or hood?), or are the mounting holes in a different location?

There are no mounting holes in the GT350 manifold.

Well that explains that. I guess I could have taken a peek at a GT350 engine bay before posting!
No it was a good questions. You really need to see it in person to tell. That was the first thing I looked at when we got the manifold

I am sure someone can "fab" something up to make it work.

Maybe the OP or someone will be able to make something work. I love the idea of this intake but I would also like to keep the appearance as stock as possible, because stealth reasons....:D

Of course, this is a public forum so I think I just blew the stealth approach.....

Can anyone with this intake comment on how easy/difficult it appears adding something to include the stock engine cover may be? I'm quite partial to my painted covers and would rather not part with them.

You can probably fab something up to mount off of these points:

Many shops won't allow that because of the speeds the car gets up to in fifth. The results in fourth usually aren't much different. The ones that I've seen compare pulls in different gears show that they're reading within the margin of error on a dyno.
You realize that 5th gear in our cars is 1:1, right? The same as previous generation 5-speed manuals 4th gear. You aren't going any faster due to the physical gate the gear is in.

I do realize that. Fifth gear is 1:1 in the MT82 and in the GT350's Tremec 3160. Still, ask most shops to dyno in fifth gear for you, then tell them that it tops out around 160 (with 3.73s), and they will tell you they need to do it in fourth gear. I've had this discussion with shops more than once.
