I have seen speculation that the GT350 could have 600 horsepower. This seems impossible to me. Even with Boss 302 torque at 8000rpm that only yields 475HP. Multiply that number out due to a 5.2L displacement and you almost get to 500HP. I assume they made some other improvements to the engine besides a flat plane crank so I would think just over 500HP is reasonable...just over what the Z28 makes. But it will be lighter, faster, better...and cheaper to purchase...any thoughts.

IF>..it's a FPC I could see 550 HP

If it's a normal 5.2..probably 515HP, 410TQ

I think 600 is a pipe dream.

But I also thought the FPC was a pipe dream, yet Raj Nair (in the 3rd video) mentioned wanting an engine that was rev happy and had low inertia. He also talked about efficiency and having a high specific output (HP/liter).

Therefore, maybe I am wrong on both counts.

Personally, I'd be happy with 475+ HP, as long as the rest of the car was great.

A bit over 500 hp sounds reasonable to me. Apparently the videos show a naturally aspirated engine. My guess is you'd need some sort of forced induction to get it up to 600 hp.

My guess is 475-520.

I'm hoping 500, but honestly I'm desperate and want the car anyway...if I can afford it. The more videos I see the less likely that becomes lol

We're missing a whole lot of information. Speculation is pointless and the car's being unveiled in four days.

Speculation is what keeps forums like this going. Lol

Though after looking at other forums and a few people on this one I think there are going to be a lot of people disappointed. I think that I may be one of them by that'll be because I can't afford it. I'm pretty much sold regardless of HP figures.

Honestly, if it doesn't come with 500+ I will see that as a bit of a failure. I know HP isn't everything, but if it wants to keep up/trounce the z/28 it needs to have some power behind it. I'm expecting between 500-550 hp.

That's true. It's just more fun to speculate when there's something to work with aside from displacement and all-but-official word on the crankshaft configuration. :/

If the motor is 5.2 L FPC and that is a huge if as it would be the biggest FPC V8 ever hp ratings between 550 and 600 are possible FPC motors are very efficient and are capable of easily achieving that magic 100 hp per liter ratio look at the 458 for example it's a 4.5 L making 570 hp in base trim so a
5.2 L could make 550-600 hp easy that is if they can build a 5.2 L FPC that doesn't vibrate itself into oblivion I think if it's a hopped up NA coyote it could be capable of around 550 hp anymore and durability and drivability might be an issue

Read @SterlingArcher posts, (not saying hes right but definitely knows ppl in the, "know") he said, "FPC 525hp" but also said in other post that, "the engine its capable of a lot more just had to be turned down for street use".

It's not impossible. It's only how much money they're willing to pour into it. The Lambo 5.2 V10 has over 600hp peaking around 8000rpm, so yeah, it may be a little harder for a V8 to do the same but it's still doable.

Not sure what you mean by saying you got 475hp from Boss 302 torque @ 8000rpm??

With 390ft.lb at 8000rpm that translates to 586hp, and then for 5.2 litres it's 610hp. These are just calcs, though, and have nothing to do with Voodoo.

Peak torque for the Boss 302 is 380 ft/lbs, which at 8000 RPM would equal about 579 horsepower.

Ah, yes, 380, not 390. Thanks.
