In my cars case the oil usage went way way down when I quit cold idling to warm the engine this spring. I drive it like a baby under load once the ecu kicks down from what seems like a fast idle setting, before when I thought I needed to wait until it was warmer, my catch cans had chocolate milk looking crap in them and I was adding a oil every other fill up. Still nothing like yours friend.

Minn19 thanks for posting your story. I'm going to add this thread to my list of GT350 drivetrain problem threads. Even though you have your car and still get to use and "enjoy" it, I find your situation worse than my own. I can't believe Ford is fine with you spending your own time and money monitoring oil consumption! FWIW, I monitored my oil closely before and after my car's first change (that I did myself around 1k miles). I didn't notice any oil consumption until 2500~3229 (when my oil pump failed) miles. After 2200~ miles on my first oil change, the dipstick went from the full mark to a few mm above the low mark. I was actually going to just watch it and then change the oil once I got around 3k miles on that change, but now my car is [allegedly] getting a new engine.

I haven't said anything to anyone yet, but I've forwarded your situation and Minn's to someone at Ford that I know. Just seeing what they say and going from there.

Thanks for the post. I dropped it off last night so I actually don't have it anymore. The accelerating oil usage (it was nearing the bottom of the stick after 500ish miles now) coupled with the recall, I decided to drop it back off. There is no way I could enjoy it with this going on. It's a shame since it looks like this could be the last good weekend of the year here weather wise.

Good luck with your engine replacement and congrats on the wedding!

Thanks, I do appreciate any help I can get at this point. I have a couple of things I'm trying before my last resort of lemoning it. I've tried calling Ford Customer Service back a few times now and havent gotten a call back. They said the manager of my regional rep was going to call me back "by the end of business day" yesterday and guess what......no call back or anything. I'm really not surprised anymore unfortunately.

Thank you! Feel free to PM me if necessary. Here's some other owner's who have had or are going through unfortunate engine/drivetrain issues:

There are others too that haven't shared publicly. I'm not going to mention who they are or the specific issues they've had.

Thank You!

Regarding lemon law, I've thought about seeing a lawyer but my situation doesn't even come close to qualifying for lemon law (I never thought TX would have such strict guidelines on anything, go figure). I figure it's a waste of time/money for me to do that. I guess I'm just looking at 10-15k loss on selling/trading the car at this point. I may keep it and try to get a few months of use in it and hope it doesn't have any more issues, and sell it in the spring to spread out that depreciation over more months/miles. We'll see...

Also, I've called and emailed (3 emails) my regional Ford Service rep and she hasn't gotten back to me since 10/13. I'm sure I could get ahold of her if I called more frequently but I decided last week at least to not think about this car bullshit and enjoy my vacation/wedding. This week, I'm not finding the motivation to call her, call the dealer, or even go to the dealer and complain or see my car. It's not worth my time.

Funny/sad thing is, is that I wasn't even that upset or pissed off about the situation until I talked to my regional rep. It is quite clear that Ford is going into full damage control mode to protect itself. At least to me it is. Even if they get back to you, I wouldn't expect much. Hopefully it will be different for you, but I highly doubt it.

I think it's obviously a good idea to try and put it out of your head as much as possible and just concentrate on your wedding/vacation. I know it's hard to do, but there is nothing you can really do about now so try and not let wreck the big day. There'll plenty of time to do that when you get back. ;)

Agreed, and thank you! Unfortunately I'm already back to reality/work. Due to more important and serious issues in our lives (health), my car and it's problems are the least of my wife and I's worries. We've postponed a "honeymoon" and just came back home. Next year will be a happier year, hopefully!

It sounds like they will have your car fixed soon but you might still call a lemon law attorney to get their take. What's on the Texas DVM Lemon Law webpage doesn't really make sense. Their 30 days test requires two repair attempts in the first twelve months. Going by that rule, a car could languish at the dealership for 11.9 months and still not quality for lemon law.

It could be that what's posted on the Texas DMV website isn't the actual requirements. Other states, such as California advertise a more straightforward 30 days or more :

http://www.dmv.org/ca-california/automotive-law/lemon-law.php
•The car has been out of service for 30 days or more for repair to warranty problems.

Thank you, I too found the TX guidelines posted online to be a bit odd.

I first noticed the issue around 3000 miles and since then it has become worse.
Hey Jason,
Thanks for keeping us informed on your situation. Good luck with it all.
Just started to re-read this thread from the beginning and found this nugget.

Nothing like having multiple sources of anxieties about the worst case scenarios with this car....

All the best:cheers:

Wow!
Really!
I think you are taking this a little personal. I'm not calling you a liar. I'm saying it's hard to believe and they tell you they couldn't find the problem.
Buddy
I read your post wrong. Sorry for being an ass.

Minn19 assuming you get a replacement engine someday, just a heads up, you won't get a new "built-by" plaque: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1570554&postcount=208
Thanks for the heads up. I figured as much that it wouldn't get a new one. I guess it doesn't really matter anymore since it won't be a numbers matching car anymore anyway.

A little update. My service advisor called Friday and said that FP is going to finally let them get into the engine and find out if there are signs of engine damage. If they don't, they will not put a new engine in it and wait for that fix next year. If it does have internal damage, the FP contact said they would put a new engine in it, but it would most likely do the same thing my current engine is doing. He reiterated they are working on a fix for the excessive oil usage issue.
Almost none of this makes any sense to me (and unnamed others) from a few different angles at all. :headbonk:

Quick update for those who might be interested.

After being told last Friday that Ford wanted my dealer to tear down the engine to check for damage, they called today and said I need a new engine.

I asked what they found in the teardown and the answer is nothing. Why, because they didn't tear it down and Ford just green lighted the engine replacement again. Now I'm being told that they've identified a certain run of Voodoo engines that were having this issue and after a certain date they don't. My contact at the dealer couldn't tell me what dates these were between nor do I know the production date of my car as it is at the dealer. I bought it mid June so I'm guessing April/May for a build date.

Just to recap, this is after I was told initially/roughly 6 weeks ago that I needed a new engine. Then was told I wasn't getting a new engine because the new one would do the same thing and I needed to wait until possibly spring for a fix to the issue. Now suddenly, they've supposedly identified the problem was between certain dates and this new engine will fix the oil usage problem. I know companies (mine included) have dysfunctional communication between departments etc, but I feel I'm being played here and I'm not sure why or by who. Could this new info be true? Sure, but I have doubts due to the many different stories that have changed rapidly.

Plus, as people know the engine replacement does not fix the oil cooler line recall so that would still need to be done. Really frustrated and don't know what to think or do. By the way, they told me there are no long blocks available and they have no ETA when they will be.
