Is that a type of undercoating?
Yes and no. Look up a product called Fluid Film. There are others but that may be the best. I usually think if undercoating as a heavy rubberized layer. They are generally considered bad because once they become damaged they trap moisture, dirt and salt/chemicals. Oil sprays are just that, a light coating of a stickyish oil substance. It needs to be reapplied yearly - or maybe every other year. Check out a YouTube channel called South Main Auto, a mechanic in NY, who has a couple of videos on the product and process. It will seriously prolong the life of rust belt vehicles. He has shown early 2000 vehicles that don’t look much worse than southern vehicles.

Do you oil spray it or just run it as is?
Nope I just run it as is. I haven’t looked under it since I changed my wheels in the spring but last I looked, you can barely tell I drive it in the winter. My Steeda jacking rails are starting to rust, so I’ll need to get those off and get them powder coated, might be a good spring 2025 job

I might start doing the same and put my blizzaks to use. My beater is starting to require more work than I have time for these days lol

These cars are so much dang fun, even in winter. I can’t foresee going back to something else for winter. Yeah, other drivers are a concern but that goes for anytime of year. Life’s too short to be afraid to drive it.

I love my Blizzaks. Probably have one more winter in this set then will have to think about replacing them. There’s plenty of tread but they will be 5 years old in January. Will try to squeeze more time out of them but will depend if I start seeing any cracking/dry rot. So far they’re good

Yeah, I'm starting to wonder why I drive a penalty box 4 months of the year in the first place. I've noticed too that these cars have quick heat that's insane, you can roast yourself if so desired lol

Yeah it gets warm, and quickly. Could probably toast marshmallows at the hottest setting 🤣

I sure do wish Florida had some great scenery like I'm seeing in these pictures. Very jealous

Don't sell your scenery short. It may be different but much of it is great nonetheless. I love cruising A1A, the panhandle coast is great and some of the highway from Miami to Key West is nothing short of magnificent.

Mine is a daily driver, too. Granted, we don't have a winter like those further North, but if we did I'd take it to Crown or someplace similar and get that wax/oil undercoat.

I feel the same way so I like road trips. These are from a trip through Colorado to South Dakota. A long way from Texas, lol.

Mine is a weekender and I do 100-150 miles of cruising and some spirited stuff. Regular maintenance and always warming it up before putting the foot into it has helped a lot. Not one repair from breaking anything since 2020 when I bought it brand new and whippled it straight away.
