I am guilty! I've done 1,100 miles in 1.5 years. Since I don't drive the car much issues have been popping up.

I have a Davies Craig electric water pump kit and now the pump is screaming. They covered it under warranty (great Company) but it was because I don't drive the car much. Have to get these things up to temp.

So I've decided to drive my car to the Mod Nationals in Bradenton (November) which is 3 hours each way. My best friend who has a Challenger Hellcat Redeye lives in Lakeland so staying there.

I need to drive this thing.
At the tail end if this interview (link below) with Jay Leno he talks about that issue. He says he has far fewer problems with his cars than friends with equivalent vehicles because he drives them. I used to be a diesel mechanic and I saw that with many old farm rigs I worked on. Some of that old equipment was well maintained and used regularly and just kept on running. The same rig that had been pulled to the back of the lot and parked for two years would have more issues than the one that had just been run regularly. Mostly seals drying out and bearing issues, pump diaphragm drying out, etc. Wheel bearings can spall because of constant pressure exerted from setting. They take less point load when rotating. Also they don’t get lubed when they sit. Just few of MANY examples.

You nailed it. I stayed overnight in Bodega Bay on my way down to LA. I went from there and drove the road they filmed the final drag race scene on for American Graffiti, i.e., the fictional “Paradise Rd.” in the movie. I understand Skywalker Ranch is there somewhere.
Skywalker Ranch is on Lucas Valley Road off of US 101 in San Rafael. You can't see it because of all the foliage and I figure one can't go inside without permission. That drive is fun though, with all those curves.

Getting it out to drive is not the issue for me. I drive it nearly every time I drive. My issue is, is it warm enough for the top to be down. Living in Georgia it is more often than not.
This picture is from the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historic Park in Macon, GA. The railroad trestle was built in the mid 1800's and is one of the only brick trestles from that time as most were made of wood. It was built by the railroad after they bisected the plantation so the owner could get to his fields. It's wide and tall enough for a horse drawn farm wagon.
Not as majestic or as old as those trees but interesting nonetheless.

In retirement the wife and I have started visiting as many national parks, monuments and historical sites as we can. We've started close to home. It's kind of depressing how many things close to you that you don't visit. Anyway, one of our next trips will be to a set of caves in northern Alabama, Russell Caves, that were continually occupied from 10,000 BCE to 1650 CE. Looking forward to that one.

That’s fun stuff, totally get it. I grew up in the Lower Columbia Basin. Palouse Falls has some caves that were inhabited about that time.

I had a Toyota pickup with the little 22RE engine and it ran 480,000miles. I have no idea how long it would have run because the guy that had bought it from me told me he slid it off the road in the snow and the damage was enough it just wasn’t worth fixing. Admittedly those engines are famous for their longevity but I really think half of it is that it was regularly driven and it was well maintained. I get my GT350 out in the winter as long as the ambient temperature is 45 degrees or above simply to drive it, charge the battery, get everything warmed up and lubed. Also, I keep the garage above 40 degrees to keep the tires from getting brittle and flat spotting. It all seems to work. Then I drive it whenever I can in the Spring-Fall.

Don't just open the garage door and say, "It looks so beautiful'' get it out and enjoy it and let others enjoy it too. :like:

It is my daily driver so I am forced to drive it.
Doing a down shift with top down and hearing the engine rev up is a fun way to relax while driving home from work.
