Thanks to everyone! I've only had her for two days and I'm already up to 200+ miles (and my commute is less than 20 miles roundtrip FYI
). Things are only getting better as the miles pack on; the driving position, the size of the car, the gear lever, etc. She continues to get rave reviews from friends and coworkers.
And just so you know, I had a friend drive my 335i while I was in the GT. We did two launches and a few highway pulls. From a dig, the Bimmer had me off the line up until 3rd to 4th gear where I started to steadily pull. From a roll, the GT had it every time. I credit the launching issues due to my complete lack of experience with this car. Still, glad to see that the E92 still has plenty of grunt compared to a stock GT.
Sounds like a great plan... Saying goodbye to the twin turbo was hard for me!!
Congrats man. I'm very interested in your thoughts about the S550 compared with your E92 335i, as I own one as well. I agree with you that the car does feel big. Maybe a little too big, but I suppose it's just something to get used to. Also, how does the build quality feel? Any panel alignment issues?
Just curious, did you have any mods on the 335i? Looking forward to the pulls.![]()
Congrats Oppo!we have been following each other's progress for some time now, since we are going in opposite directions - you are coming from BMW to the Mustang, and I am going to BMW for the first time. I am super interested to read your review in a week's time.
I test drove both the S550 manual GT and the 2 series Bimmer, back to back, and came away impressed by both. I decided to jump ship after owning a Mustang GT for the past 22 years mainly because I just wanted to try something different. It was a tough choice and now that I'm waiting for the BMW to be built, I am having occasional second thoughts because I know I would love the 2015 GT, especially in Triple Yellow.
If I had to pick out any deciding factors that made me lean towards the M235i, they would be the size of the S550 and its tame exhaust note. It did feel bigger than my S197, even though they're virtually the same size. And the BMW exhaust note isn't perfect either - I ended up adding the $1300 performance exhaust option to my order, so that didn't make much sense since upgrading the Ford exhaust would have been much cheaper...
Anyway, congrats again on your new ride and hopefully we'll both be happy down the road!
race em! I recently sold my 335i and have a GT on order. The new f30 BMW's are too watered down for me, the steering / handling felt overly soft. The New GT handles a lot like my 07 335 did, with a little more speed to boot.
Speaking of the 335i... this write-up's going to be difficult. There are still plenty of qualities about that car that I find superior (dimensions, steering characteristics, fuel economy), but this car is providing me smiles from ear-to-ear every time I drive or just think about it. I was racing out of work to get back on the road.Yeah I made a big mistake going from an E90 335i to an F30....:frusty: Too soft.
Anyways no more BMW for me now I'm strictly :ford:
