OK, this had me confused.

Whilst I know the Coyote engine is described as Gen 1, Gen 2 and Gen 3, I would never refer to the S550 bodystyles as Gen 2 or Gen 3.............for me the 2015-2017 are Gen 1 S550s and the 2018+ are Gen 2.......or probably just easier to refer to them by the model years!

Back the the subject though.......'18+ is my preference........although the '21 Mach 1 is even better :)

I almost bought a 15' and ended up with an 18. Front end had no bearing on the purchase. If you're a mustang fan or especially someone who owns a previous version you are most likely the only one who notices or cares. As someone who just bought their first Ford, I never even paid a attention. sorry

Pic for attention, 2015 RS2, was born a PP1 premium. Proud new owner.

QUESTION: It's a manual, and has the Phase 2 Roush kit and a BAP. Also has SVE 350s staggered with 325s on the back wrapped in Indy Firehawks. Running the canned Roush tune from kit.

1) Think this car can hit high 10s if launched perfectly? If not, think it would if I got a custom tune from VMP and nothing else?

2) Best way to launch this car? Like drive mode, RPM to dump clutch on, etc?

The '18+ front end definitely grew on me from when it first came out. I think I prefer it over the 15-17 now just because its meaner and looks more modern.

The GT350 and Mach 1 are tied for me as the best looking s550.

You would need a custom tune. Having driven a 15' Roush manual with roush cal then comparing it to my stock a10 18, then phase 1, and now phase 2 Looking more at mid 11's maybe slower. The new phase 2's on an a10 are capable of 10's (guy ran an 10.7 with phase 2) but highly doubtful with the 15-17's on that phase 2 cal. Good news is you have more potential for power than the 18+'s due to cooling with a good tune and few more power adders. Better design but Roush was really pulling timing hard on those cals. Look at VMP or PBD. they will hook you up big time.

Im coming from a Focus ST so even on the conservative tune im still learning to handle this car, lol

Think I'd crack 10s with just a VMP tune? Lund wanted injectors upgraded first at which point I'd probably get comfortably into the 10s, not sure though with just a custom tune with no additional parts beyond P2 and the BAP.

Roush phase 2 tune is really, really bad on the 15-17's. Plenty of guys where running stock numbers with Roush cals. I saw one video where the guy was running high 11's. I'd say 10's with MT et streets\nitto 555rii's, irs mods, cat delete, boostane (or race gas), and PBD tune. Best bang for your buck, cost you $2-3k.

Let's try to stay on topic here. You're asking questions about your personal build. This thread is about how the 15-17 looks. You should start a new thread for that. It's hard to find out what others are talking about when you're asking people how do drive/tune your car. Not trying to be rude.

I agree. I wish the OP used a different title, though. I don't think he/she meant to but "Gen2s are just better looking" sounds like an impish attempt to start a heated and stupid debate on a very subjective topic. I'm sure the vast majority of 18+ owners like the way their cars look just as we do.

I guess op's the "gen" 1-2-3 names come from the generations of coyote motor. Gen 1 is 2011-2014, gen 2 2015-2017, gen 3 2018+

The S550v2 (yes, I'm using that ... hahahaha ...) definitely grew on me really quickly. I slightly preferred the S550v1, then was ambivalent, but liked the S550v1 hood vents a little better, the rear end, was a nice improvement with the S550v2, specifically the lower valance (particularly on non-black cars), it looks more finished, and love the dual tips. Plus, the MY18+ with the Gen 3 Coyote, better lighting, Magneride, updated PP1, interior materials, LCD dash is a notably improved experienced.

Gen II - knows it’s sexy, doesn’t care what you think
