I'll just leave this here.

Revolution (TV series) - Wikipedia

It was actually a good TV series. Now substitute Electricity for Gasoline. You can have one without the other but not the other without the one.

Not really. An exhaust system is a common bolt on mod. That said regular GT’s are a dime a dozen so holding value really isn’t part of the ownership equation. Also how a care is driven is equally or more important than low long it is driven. Just enjoy your car and do not worry about value.
Tell that to the guys with low mileage unmodified Fox GT’s. They made WAY more than those than S550 GT’s.
Anything stock unmodified always brings more money. In Foxbody speak A LOT more.

Mass produced S550, that isn't a "Limited Edition" with heritage placard or documented by a Certificate #x of #xx,xxx from Ford ...

Unfortunately to be of any "value", it would have to be very unique and stand out from its same counterparts.

Exterior colors on cookie cutters could be unique if there were really low quantity built of that color. But aside from the color, what else would set it apart or would make it unique enough for someone in the future to pay big $$$?

It's subjective really. Sure, as the saying goes "there's an ass for every seat" - but to lure that person in and make them part with their cash at a higher than normal market valuation - it has to be:
- Unique exterior color
- Unique interior/exterior option equipped (every single option vs. none or just a few)
- Low confirmed production count
- Completely mothballed without any driven miles, dealer prep, plastics, docs or labeling removed from the vehicle as it came off the assembly line and as it came off the transport.

Now of course if the cookie cutter has prominent first ownership by a Celeb or someone amazing, then certainly it automatically comes with a higher premium.... LOL.

This is my fear when my wife and I start having kids.
Don't get me wrong, they aren't bad kids. I love them to death but such a soft generation. I tried to give my older boy a treat before he went off to college by letting him burn my clutch up getting better with a manual in a fun car and he was crying out of frustration with in 10 minutes. I mean fuck, I would have killed to tear up a 400+ hp car at that age!

the best way to make money on a car is get them after they've depreciated to their lowest right before that generation gains a following. happens all the time if you know what to look for.

that's up to you. a man's children are his legacy. most people gamble on it.
takes a lot of effort to be a good parent.
It sure does, but even then there’s no guarantee it’ll work out like you hoped.

Cars are not investments...
they can be.

I'm going to add this. Of all of the vehicles I've owned, and/or flipped, it is much easier to sell a car that is bone stock than one that is customized.

think about it. Yeah you and I want to hear the roar of the V8. I'm a gearhead at heart. BUT when I buy an investment car (and I do), I will pay a little more for one that is unmodified. Secondly one that is not modified or customized shows a potential buyer that it was less likely for that car to be raced, abused, or beat on. A STOCK GT with no modifications is "generally" owned by a more mature audience than one that has exhaust wheels and whatever else. People look at those things. Especially the people who I "like" to sell to (older and generally more mature buyers). There are a few exceptions.

As far as not being investments? I've done fairly well with them over the last 30 years, especially the last few years. Inflation can work for you, or against you. Or in my case both. But I still have done pretty well. Kind of like housing. Location location location. Some vehicles that don't sell well here, sell great in other parts of the country. Before all this inflation hit, it wasn't uncommon to buy a car here for pennies, and advertise it in other areas. Hotshotting the car across the country wasn't a big deal; now with the costs of fuel and such, it's gotten more challenging and the collectors know this and are paying a little bit more.
