Can I Haz F1 sound?

Because Race Car!!!!

Yes. Take and empty soda can and using an exacto knife cut two small slits vertically about 1-2 inches in length(width apart and length can be used to 'tune' sound). Then hum with your mouth into the regular opening at the top and viola! There's a video on YouTube where a guy goes from F1 to Lambo and sounds very cool.

Uh... the word "soundtrack" is just an umbrella term that encompasses the engine's noises. Of course it has a soundtrack; it makes noise. Ford's mentioning of the V8's soundtrack does not imply syntheisized augmentation/amplification.
He's reaching because he likes to be right. Maybe it would help out he just admits I was right the whole time......

Btw that V8 "soundtrack" it's made by mechanical internals...not microphones lol

I love how people want to turn everything into "you're buying a V8 you have no right to speak about EB stuff" get over it man. This is MURICA lastv time I checked and lady liberty told me I can talk about an EcoBoost if I want.

Nobody is trying to turn this into an Eco-Boost is Better than a GT Debate, but it gets More than a bit Annoying to hear Supposed Fellow Mustang Enthusiasts Bash Anything that Isn't a V-8 just because they can't Wrap Their Brain around the fact that it's the 4 and 6 Cylinder Mustangs that have kept Our Beloved Mustang Alive and in Continuous Production for 50 Years. Yeah the GT's, Mach-1's, Bosses, Cobra's, and Shelby's are the ones that get the most attention, but just like everything else it's the Little Guys that Keep Things Going! If anything its the V-8, GT Muscle Heads that are Trying to Start Something. Acting like a bunch of High School Bullies, Strutting around with their chest all puffed up, Braging How "Mine is Better Cause..." As for that V-8 Sountrack being made by Mechanicals... Guess what, so is the Eco-Boost's. But istead of Piping it in through a Tube it's Piped in through a Microphone. Same thing Different Approach. Just like the Horsepower of Each Engine. The Eco-Boost uses Technology like it does for the sound, and the GT uses Old School Brute Force. Neither One is WRONG, It's just a Preference.

Agreed.

I do want to know though if there is going to be a way to stop the piped in 'nicer tones' of the exhaust. There should be an option to turn it on or off if you want it.

As a few reviewers have said, it could get headachy on long road trips.

There could be an on/off option certainly. There could even be a volume control for it. All that would make it seem more fabricated though.

If they would have used a sound tube, then at least you could plug it or remove it easily...

First off I am probably going to get the EcoBoost myself, so don't lump me into the 4-banger-haters club just because I am going to agree that the V8 sounds way better. Of course it does. But I'm much more interested in, I dunno, ALL THE OTHER aspects of the car than the sound...drivability, features, cost, fuel economy, etc.

IMHO I would actually just as soon they let you make the EB sound like an F1 car if you want, or a diesel truck, or an M5 or whatever. If the point is to make the engine sound better and have fun with it, why not go all out and let you go nuts and enjoy it, rather than be a slave to making it sound 'authentic' or whatever. If you'd rather your EB sound like the V8, play that track! But then maybe Ford would be afraid that could actually start luring some V8 buyers to the EB...if how the car sounds is really the most important thing to them...

your opinion seems to be the only one that matters here, on all points. it gets tiresome.

i have an opinion that cutting the exhaust on a limited edition automobile is really a stupid idea, but i didnt post it up in your thread.

From the Edmonds review for those that haven't scrolled through this whole thread..they thought the piped in sound would get tiresome for sure.

The EcoBoost's power delivery is strong from low revs, and Ford engineers weren't shy about piping intake honk into the cabin. It's unabashedly a four-cylinder sound, and this will appeal to some people as much as it turns others off. The raucousness grows a bit tiresome if you hammer the EcoBoost near the rev limiter for a while, but around town the engine is muted, pleasant and mannerly. Despite the EcoBoost's solid torque, the grunt doesn't hit all at once when you pick up the throttle exiting a corner. In this respect, the four-cylinder Mustang is less of a hooligan than it could be.
