Was out for a drive today when the TPMS kicked out a low pressure warning. Got out and checked the tire and could hear air coming out through the cords. I checked the other front tire and found the same wear pattern.

I have the non-HP car with 20k on these PS4 tires, and have a few autox events and a road course session on them. I was surprised to see that wear on the inner edge, and will have the alignment checked.

On the positive side…was fortunate in having a full size spare I purchased a few years ago. Reminder to self….check the edges a bit closer.

Been there with my 18 GT. Was around 25k miles when I discovered. It was a bummer because there was still good tread on the other part of the tire.. I had replaced with a full set of Conti's but prefer the PS4 as the Conti's look a tad bit smaller. I currently have a routine, wash the car, check the oil, check the tires.

Too much toe out, but those tires at 20k almost always show more wear in the inner tread due to their design. That’s a bit extreme though exacerbated by your alignment

No offense intended, how did you not see this sooner?

I see these threads far too often on here.

Factory alignment is not always correct especially on a sensitive setup like the Mustang.

I grew up working on cars so it is hard wired in my brain to monitor everything. New cars are sold with the perception of low or no maintenance vs having to do valve jobs and swap cams at 60k.

I just went through this with my girlfriends kid. 10k on new tires and outer edge was totally blown out.

I was always asking him to check the fluids and air pressures as well as look everything over when he put gas in the car. But he proffered to look at his phone instead. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Happened on my 2018 GT as well. Not uncommon with S550's for some reason, and because it's just the inner edge and you can see lots of meat on the tread, you'd never realize its happening till you fail state inspection.

The inner areas of my front tires wore prematurely also. The toe was off

These cars do not have any way to adjust camber unless you buy and install aftermarket parts. Ford should have installed camber plates but elected not to. This is especially critical if the car has been lowered as that increases negative camber.

100% toe issue. Get a shop to set no more than .03 toe in and your tires will last forever. I put BMR camber bolts in to dial alignment in better. Rear toe set between .10-.13 per side. And as much positive camber as I could get on rear with stock adjustment which was .08. Car still handles great. And tires wear nice and eve on minimal drop springs šŸ‘

Iā€˜ve grown up working on cars over the years and typically catch issues early. This is simply a lesson learned and need to check the alignment per some of the recommendation.

Still glad I purchased the spare a few years ago.

If it makes you feel any better, these tires are done at 20k corded or not.

O
With the track time I’ve had on these tires, Iā€˜m fine with 20k.
Oh yeah that's 20k daily driving. I think the most i've gotten out of then was 25k and that car was 1000 lbs lighter.

With your extra curricular activities im surprised you got them to last as long as you did!

Neg camber has little effect on tire wear. Toe is the issue.
