That Photoshop has the proportions all screwed up. The enormous Mustang front end, which is fine for a 2dr coupe would be horrendous on a 4dr. the car would be 17 feet long and make 70's Lincolns say, "Damn, that's a long boat."

To shorten the front, they would have to lose the Coyote for something smaller. A 17' 4,000lbs Turbo 4cyl would be Hated beyond hate.

This could never happen until the Coyote, the ICE and the S550 were all killed off completely.

Well the S550 is already history after 2022. But letā€™s not even think about the other two for now.

I bet they would try to call it a ā€œfour-door coupeā€ like those German guys. So they can claim itā€™s just a variant. If they actually make one.

Yup, I'm sure when folks saw the pinto based Mustang they were like WAT?
The buying public was so surprised by the '74 Mustang II that they bought nearly as many units as the preceding three model years combined and it outsold every model year back to 1968.

That's one possibility.

But how about making the distinction between the two-door coupe we have now and this proposed four-door variant something like 'sports coupe' vs 'sport sedan'? BMW once proved that sedans don't have to be boring and uninvolving.

I'm betting 99% of the forum could care less what style it was called if it has the Mustang name attached. And if such a vehicle does come to fruition you can bet it will.

If I had kids I'd buy one if it looked anything like the rendering. Much nicer than the charger.

They should bring the No kids and No wife edition into mix. I want extra short.

Surely they're not dumb enough to kill their mid-size sedan (Fusion) due to a perceived lack of sales (their excuse to dive head-first into crossovers), and then pump out yet another bastardization of the Mustang name as a mid-size sedan.
Fusion has been dead since Ford killed it at the end of the 2020 model year.

That was the point of my post. There is no logic involved in them killing one sedan to create another. Maybe they're banking on the RWD aspect drawing in more sedan buyers, but that seems risky.

This isnā€™t about a ā€œmodelā€ itā€™s about a brand. They could call it a Ford Mustang Fusion. Itā€™s all about the ā€œMā€ word.

They have never had a 4-door with the engines, drivetrain, and suspension of the modern Mustang
