We've got a lot of high end cars out there in the four door coupe segment. I think currently the cheapest entrant into the category would be the VW CC. It was rumored for a bit that Ford would expand the Mustang lineup with a four door coupe variant, but nothing ever materialized. Would you guys wcome the idea of a four door Mustang to expand the lineup and keep things interesting? No doubt this would keep a Stang in the garage of a lot of guys with small famalies that could t justify having a regular two door model.

Thed did say it was based off a large RWD platform.

MustangDizzle, it could be a totally different top-hat without the Mustang badge. Maybe not even a Ford; it could be a Lincoln.

How about NO, to a four door mustang. Just drop a 8V into a Fusion and there you have it, LOL.
IMO, a true mustang fan would not want to see a 4 door mustang and a true mustang fan wouldn't buy a 4 door mustang. Now if Ford was hurting for money or just greedy then yeah Ford may do that, but I hope not.

4 door Mustang

Oldest joke in Mustang history. What is the next rumor? Diesel? Station wagon?

Seriously? There's a reason this was an april fools joke on R&T....

That wouldn't make it interesting at all, it would make it pedestrian and kill the brand in one fell swoop. I know plenty of guys with small families who have mustangs. They do what every self respecting guy does and buys a proper sedan or a roomier 2+2 with all that $ you're saving from buying the most affordable muscle car around. Or just be a man and tell the wife and kids to suck it up! I had to ride around in the back of my dad's beat up pickup for years. Modern day mustangs are recliners in comparison.

What WOULD be interesting is to get rid the backseats all together and have a real 2 seater to face off with against the corvette. That might be just the type of impractical buy to make me go buy a cheap sedan for when I need to drive around friends/fam.

Yes, the S550 will be a sedan platform that will be reworked for coupe usage just like the current S197.

I'd love to see a sedan based off of the Mustang's platform, which is rumored to happen but as a Lincoln. What I'd love to see even more is a shooting brake Mustang (just as long as it isn't called a Mustang), but that's just me living in fantasy land.

Even a shooting brake is possible. If Ford can use a Focus platform to make a hatch, sedan, and small SUV, and God knows what else, then I'd expect the same, if not more, from the platform that can potentially carry the flagship.

Interesting topic. So besides a coupe and convertible variant of the Mustang would you guys want to see any other variant carry the Mustang name?
