I assume this doesn't apply to 2018-2022's.... Seems like a weird problem to ignore when the fix has to be rather cheap.

Here's the actual NHTSA Recall docs attached.
"Ford provided the general reimbursement plan for the cost of remedies paid for by vehicle owners prior to notification of a safety recall in May 2021. The anticipated ending date for reimbursement eligibility is April 29, 2022."

What kind of nonsense is this?

for '16s it's the price of the harness plus the price of someone standing on their head in the trunk soldering 8 conductors and a shield together.

I assume all of us who already had it fixed under warranty won't need to go in again. My backup stopped displaying several years ago, so I brought it in, and they replaced the wiring through the trunk and changed from a soft nylon sleeve to hard plastic. Clearly wasn't my dealer's first rodeo

Thanks for posting this 🤙 My backup camera started having that distorted image issue right before I put my car up for winter storage. I'm glad it's something Ford is acknowledging.

Are there any cars left that didn't already have it go out? When mine went out I was trying to explain the picture and circumstances as best I could because it was intermittent. The service writer entertained me a bit before she said they already likely knew what it was and had a fix. It was so normal it was in the usual suspects list.

My 2015 GT camera has always worked great. Someone even hit my rear bumper with a trailer, my decklid panel is coming off and it still works. Bought it used at 80k though so it might have been repaired at home, no paperwork on camera recall being done though

Could have been done already, it's a patch job to the wires at the trunk hinge. Mine went out at under 10K.

Hello All:

The harness being too short and becoming damaged has been discussed many times on the Convertible forum. This would cause the camera to malfunction. Now, the problem has been identified as also happening on hardtops, too.

I copied this off of WWW.Cars.com and am acknowledging their informational contribution with quotations:

"Affected cars also include the 2016-17 model years, and nearly 330,800 Mustangs all told are involved. The rearview camera wiring may be loose or damaged, which can result in a blank or distorted image. In addition to violating a federal mandate, a rearview camera that displays a blank or distorted image can reduce the driver’s rear view and increase the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect and repair the deck lid wiring harness and replace the rearview camera, as necessary, for free. Owners will first receive an interim letter notifying them of the safety risk beginning March 7; a second letter will be sent once a fix is available. Further questions can be directed to Ford at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 22S06), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more."

Thanks
