First oil change

I'm at 4k miles and plan on changing it this w/e. I'm going to use mobile one and mobile one filter.
My questions are...
What was the miles on you car when you had your first oil change?
Did you do your first one yourself?
What type did you use?

Pretty sure you'd be able to find it. We can find it in Australia and its from the US, so I'm sure you won't have any trouble. It's way better than Mobil 1.

whats so good about using anything other than the oem stuff (motorcraft) im coming up at my first change and debating on what im gonna do as far as oil and filter any real benifet to using royal purple or mobil etc such as mpg performance etc

i plan to change the oil at 3k to synthetic and run 10k mile intervals. Walmart has the best price on Mobil 1, Pennzoil Ultra, Castrol Edge synthetics. Oil and TBN analysis from Blackstone Labs can confirm an optimal oil change interval.

It's kinda like comparing different grades of quality for any products really.

Just look what happens when royal purple synchromax is used instead of the factory transmission fluid.

1. 1800 mi. I found plenty of metal as anticipated.
2. Yes. I drove upon scrap 2"x8" wood so my 3 ton Craftsman jack and jackstands would fit.
3. I used the factory recommended Ford oil and filter from Wallyworld.

RP HPS 5w30 and FR Filter @2k miles.

Changed mine at 3k. The oil looked great, still amber colored and no metal shavings. To do it I used plain ole rhino ramps. Changed it out with the recommended Motorcraft 5w20 and paired Motorcraft filter.

Never burned a drop. Cost me 58$ for 9 qrts and the filter. My last gti was 70ish for 6 qrts and a filter. Mods and maintinance Are so cheap for my gt

The GT PP vehicles come with full synthetic. Just had my first oil change at 5k and that's what I was told was in the car and that's what they put back in it. 80 bucks at the dealer. Didn't like the experience there as I observed 2 techs. drive off in my car and put 8 miles on it checking the steering wheel.

Stock fluid is the 5w-20 synthetic blend not full synthetic


I changed my oil at ~1000 miles, Amsoil signature series 5w-20. Car has an oil cooler so I see no reason to run 5w-30 on a 15 unless your at a track day
