I won't use it but glad to have found it to be able to reset it with oil changes.

Exactly, I'll go by mileage regardless of how much "life" the computer thinks there is.

Yesterday it showed me 93% so assuming an even decline in percentage as the mileage increases that would mean the computer thinks my oil will be good for 14000 miles....uhhhh....Nope...lol.

its more likely around 10-12k miles, depending on highway/city miles

when i was at 5000, it read 53%, with 70/30 highway/city

Even at that 12000 miles is 19,300 KMs...that will be 3-4 years of driving for me with how I'll generally use the car lol.

I figure I'll either stick with the interval or change it just before or just after storage every winter, whichever comes first.

I did my first at 1,000 miles and plan on doing every 5k thereafter.

I've got a quick question...don't mean to thread jack, but also not really thread worthy for yet another oil question.

Is the full synthetic worth the extra $35 per change? I was originally thinking that I would definitely move to full synthetic: better protection and longer intervals (by 2k miles or so). But how much worse could the synthetic blend be? It is the recommended oil by Ford. Why wouldn't they recommend the full synthetic? Their dealers would make more money and if it is noticeably better for the engine, it looks like the manual would list the full synthetic as the recommended and the blend as the optional. Been scratching my head on this as my 1st oil change approaches.

probably not, it's your call. take a look at this post. this will be my oil change strategy

Ok, thanks! That is kind of what I had in mind. I've got right at 3500miles and am thinking of doing my first at 5k and then just do whatever the computer decides after that. My consumption level was at 68% life on my drive home today. Which puts me at over 10k miles on my first change following the computer (and if my driving style remains the same). Which I think is far too many miles for my 1st. While I don't see the 1k miles thing, 10k is a little much. I think I'm over thinking this lol:headbonk:

And why is Ford oil so expensive?? My BMW full synthetic oil could be bought at the stealership for less than $6 a quart!

yep, like the post i linked said, 7500 miles or the oil life monitor, whichever comes first, and i'm guessing its going to be 7500 miles first every time
