He guys,

Im trying to find more information regarding the factory camber plates installed on the HP models. Current set-up is the HP wheels with 305's up front, 325's rear. Im changing to a square 19X11 +52 with 305's. I have 25mm spacers for the front, along with ARP extended studs.

My questions are:
  • How much caster/camber adjustments are needed for going with this set-up?
  • Are the factory plates good enough, or should I invest in better plates?

I plan on driving my car to the track, and doing some HPDE classes, as Im a true novice but want to learn. At this time changing tires at the track is not an option for me, so it will be DD mainly with some track events scattered in, when I can.

Its my understanding the factory plates are not that good, and a pain to adjust, so upgrading them is not an issue. And if my thinking is correct, being the factory wheel is 10 inches wide, the 11 should not be much different. Please correct me if Im wrong, as Im trying to learn this car along with racing corners instead of 1/4 mile.

Thanks in advance,
Anthony

If you already have the wheels, throw them on and just go drive a few events before you change anything. Like 6 months worth of at least once a month. You never said, what tire are you on/going to?

I am not trying to be a smart ass here. If you do that, you will be able to answer your own questions. You will have learned your car, and know exactly what to change to suit your style of driving. Where it's loose, tight, too fast, too slow.

Apart from swapping brake fluid, and MAYBE pads, I wouldn't change a thing right now.

Kyle,

Thanks for the reply, I don't think you are being a smartass at all. I will probably do Michelin 4S or find a good 200TW tire for these wheels, that will work on the street as well.

My main concern is not wearing out the new tires, due to not having enough adjustment in the factory plates. If that makes sense, probably worrying for nothing. Thanks again for the advice.

Hey Anthony- here's my take- I did exactly the same - I installed the Apex wheels offset 52 with same setup - 11" rims, 305 all round, with 25mm spacers up front and same ARP studs. Front pic attached. I kept my factory plates and got the wheel alignment place to do the camber at neg 2.55. I still can go a bit more with the factory setup and I might in the future. I was worried about the clearance from the shock because it was far less than the 10.5" wheels. I have been on the track that has tight corners and no issues with scraping. So all good and worked out great.

No ways! We spend too much time and money on our machines so it's good to reach out to the wealth of experience on this forum. I actually purchased a Cartek Shift Light as I redlined my car twice at The Ridge a few weeks back. Hasn't arrived yet.

You are right, most of the information received here is top notch. Right now Im using the factor shift indicator lights, so far so good. When I drag raced, the Autometer shift light was my friend, you see it without looking for it.

Not sure A10 has that facility? But going off topic now...

For A10, the digital dash flashes red at the shift point rpm. You have to hit the paddle upshift immediately and you're good. No need to look down.
