I seem to have developed a fault with one of my exhaust valve actuators which has rendered it useless... The local Ford dealership has quoted over £800 ($1000+) for a replacement in the UK.. Does anyone know if any other makes fit.. I know the BMW ones seem to be similar but only have a 3 pin connection, and the ford ones are 4. Any help would be much appreciated, Cheers

Thanks for the feedback folks.. Think I'll be going down the replacement Ford route as the whole elec-trickery and programming seems to fry my little mind :)

Not yet tried personally, but someone from the German forum has ordered some and compared, after he had the repair done at Ford for 2000€ (~$2000).
Just try it, does cost less than 100€ (~$100).

Some quick notes
Only one side is faulting, correct could that be the passenger side by chance?

Inspect the cable for chaffing, it's a known problem rubbing on the body sheet metal.

On the same side, this also could happen.

If the exhaust has been worked on X or H pipe install. Sometimes reconnecting the PS tail pipe jams the valve plug and can break the connector.

The short cable can be purchased for about 30 - 40 bucks

It is plug & play, the on-board management system already knows about the valves. Nothing to do there.

Or the valve is jammed hose it with WD40 or the likes don't want to start the best penetrating oil war. The forum has a habit of nitpicking dumb shit.
