All so true. My friend just bought an Elantra and loves it on track. He'll let me drive it on track soon.
Don't do it unless you're ready to sign papers next day 😄 believe me, I've been there

But he admits that even though he dailies it, it still only has a tight back seat and a small compartment for a "trunk".
Not sure what he's talking about. Please check out back seat and respond back. When I take it to remote tracks, I can fit 4 wheels, 2 VPRacing jugs, all the toolboxes, jack, stands, suitcase, chairs, 10x10 canopy, folding table and bunch of small stuff. No way I could fit that in a Mustang.

I'll be packing it tomorrow for track weekend, will take a few pics. In the meantime, here is the picture of rear seats, legroom space is amazing for the class of car.

what radiator are you guys using? @Ewheels @tosha
I'm on the stock PP radiator for now. I haven't been on track yet since installing a Mishimoto oil cooler so I don't have data to show any difference it may or may not have made.

Haven't updated this in a long time but also haven't been on track in over a year. Finally got back to the track last weekend with a lot of firsts.

I towed my mustang to the track for the first time. This was also my first time towing anything. It all went pretty smoothly. Though trailering brings some complexities of its own, it was nice to load the car onto the trailer and take off rather than letting the car cool down before I can jack the car up and swap out track tires to street tires.

It was also my first time testing out my Mishimoto oil cooler, oil temp gauge, Verus wing, and Rival S 1.5 tires on track.
- Oil cooler: I know everyone says this cooler is too small and doesn't help and to a degree, they are probably right, but it worked out great for me. Ambient was 59°F (probably helped the most) but my oil temps never went above 255°F and they dropped quickly on cool down laps. I forgot to check CHT so no data there. It was very nice to have an actual oil temp reading rather than the OEM red-yellow-green gauge.
- Verus wing: I'll admit, this was more of an impulse buy because my inner twelve-year-old has always wanted a car with a big carbon wing. I am not at the point where I need aero and my Ford Track suspension is definitely not up to supporting any substantial aero load....and I don't have any front aero currently. 🤦‍♂️ All that being said, I kept the wing angle at a minimum to not induce too much understeer.
Did I "feel" the wing at all? I think so. It's hard to say with so much new stuff on the car and my lack of experience but I absolutely had some understeer in a 100mph corner where I didn't before - a dab of brakes to get the car to rotate and all is well. The car also seemed to be more planted on corner exit.
- Rival S 1.5 tires: compared to the Toyo RR's I had last....less grip when cold (need a good lap and a half to warm them up), more grip when hot, gradually get greasy as the laps pile on while the RR's stayed consistent the whole session. Overall, I like them. I slid around a bit on the warm-up laps so it took me some time to trust them or recognize when they were fully warm. After maybe 5-6 laps, they slide more when pushed but it was always gradual and never snappy. Very easy and approachable tire with good grip.

Overall, I'm very happy where the car is. A few years ago, I wanted to build this thing into a full racecar but with some maturity and self-reflection, I love the car as-is. I don't see many more mods in its future. We'll see how it performs in some warmer weather but aside from that, cooling is in check (for my use case), Xineering gives me perfect downshifts, the car is very capable on track while still being usable on the street, it's perfect.

My only complaint, unless I'm blatantly missing something, I'm not a fan of Hawk brake pads. The GLOC's I had before seemed to have much higher initial bite. These Hawk's get the job done but they are not confidence-inspiring. Perhaps it's my driving style as I know I'm too hard on brakes and tend to stab them, but these Hawk's seem to like gradual pressure build rather than immediate pressure and bite. I'll be going back to GLOC once these pads are used up.

Always good to see more orange cars with Verus wings. Love it.
Not very many orange cars out there in general. Everyone either loves or hates this color. My sister-in-law even says "who buys an orange car?" 😆

Ehh, can't make them all happy. After my last event I had 3 different kids hanging their phones out of car windows to film me just driving on the highway. That's who I do it for, because I was that kid without a phone when I was little. Life's too short to not drive fun cars and do fun shit.

Couldn't have said it any better.
I'm sure with all those stickers on your car, people think it must be a real race car too.

I bought Autometer's A-Pillar single gauge mount. I think off LMR.com. Perfect position for the gauge, honestly. With that and then the OEM CHT and diff temp readout on the center screen, I have all the temps covered. I guess not trans temp but people say the manual doesn't get too hot....and I change the fluid frequently enough to negate that concern.....I hope.

I'm waiting too. They haven't released event photos yet 😑

But here's a driveway picture in the mean time

Side note: I also cut off the fake diffuser. I'm sure some will say it looks ghetto but I really like the look. Perhaps less drag too.
