Fair enough. I don't think I've looked on an unmodified Mustang to see what it says.

yes yes but that is an aftermarket sticker because of your mods.. I have one too because of my tune. :) its not factory. I mistook your post sorry. but my questions was its not required from ford. Yes with mods. As since im tuned i have to use premium now was well.

I never said what you claim, for starters (read my post again). Ford is simply recommending 5/20 because of the EPA, not because it's the best oil for the engine; that's all. .
Not seeing that one, example if that were true and think is not, 5/20 would be suggested for ALL cars.

There is this little thing going on internally, is all about the bearing and clearances of same.

Start bumping viscosity up beyond MFR recommendations.... the big looser is the owner.

Let's agree the EPA does have a hand here, the tolerances can said to have been tighten up to accommodate the 5/20 product.

I do not like the sound of 5/20 .......... bottom line if Ford says that's oil, the motor gets it. period. Not a good practice to mislead others IMNSHO..

Have also said this before, an iron block will absorb internal noises. Alum will not do that as well...

All this complaining about some tick. Tells me quit a few (most) have never driven a car with a set of roller rockers under the valve covers.

Oh well

So do you think Ford reworked the Coyote engine for tighter tolerances? That'd be the joke of the month. Ha ha. These kinds of discussions always go nowhere. Bottom line for me is I live where it's 100+ for months (yesterday was 106)... and it also gets cold in winter, so it's not like SoCal. So I'm going to put M1 0W30 because other countries with similar climates recommend 5/30 for the same exact engine. That's what makes sense to me, regardless of the reasons why Ford recommends 5/20 here. End of story :D.

The biggest troll here is calling me a troll? Ha ha. Good one. Have the feeling I'll have to 'exercise' my ignore list again very soon :D... per your own prediction of getting ignored by most members.

Anyway, the thread is called 'tick preventive measures', and my first step will be to use the best oil for MY engine, and hope it doesn't do it. That would make me very happy :). If a tick rears its ugly head on my engine too, depending on the severity and/or annoyance factor, my second step would probably be to mix one jug of M1 0/30 with another of M1 0/40 (basically 0/35), to determine if viscosity has an effect on it. My final fix would be to to go 'back' to 20 weight, but 0/20 instead, and see what happens. I could add an additive to that oil after talking to Ford, and a couple of local dealers, and getting the green light from them. If I don't get it, would have to decide if I still want to add it anyway, or just get rid of the car. Again, it all would depend on the severity of it.

As a final thought, I'd REALLY like to know what exactly Ford is putting into these engines from the factory. They know very well they have a problem with these engines, so they might be adding something to prevent them from ticking before cars are sold. Too many cars suddenly develop a tick after changing the oil the first time (or second, after all the factory fill is basically gone), and most of those cases were with 5/20 and full synthetic, so I don't buy it's straight 5/20 oil. We might never know, but at least I didn't get an oil drinker, since oil level is identical after 800 miles. Hope I dodged at least 1 of the 3 'bullitts' :). The second one is the 2K rattle, which I did not, unfortunately (but it's impossible to dodge, apparently). And the 3rd is the most important for me: the infamous tick. I'll find out soon enough. If it doesn't appear after the first 2 oil changes, am I home free, or not necessarily? Thx.

Never been called a troll before but ok.
Me neither. How did it feel? Ha ha. But better to ignore each other, since you were getting a bit... b*tchy with me. No sense in engaging in pissing contests. Ignored too by mutual accord :).

There are a few different threads going on about ticks and 2k rpm rattles. In one of the other threads, the ticks are supposedly from the fuel injectors. I posted an actual video of the ticks, and almost everyone said, yep that is definitely fuel injectors and normal. Interestingly, I didn't hear it until about 500 miles after my first oil change....but since my car has always had 5w50 (Roush Charged), guess that wouldn't matter. I've got a warranty so I will drive it as I bought it to be driven and not worry....plus I can't hear it inside the car......now where are those hearing aids :)

I had a tick that was so loud you could hear it from 50 feet away. I dumped a bottle of ceratec in it after an oil change and haven’t heard it since. Also the engine doesn’t idle rough anymore and seem smoother now. ‍♂

People are full of it. Fuel injectors are a consistent noise. Unless that is indeed what you had. The tick I had was very inconsistent and off rhythm.

I wish I could upload a video of what I had. Definitely not that sound. Mine sounds more comparable to piston slap.

Not my video, but this is what mine sounded like.

I'd say there are two different things going on.

Mine didn’t start making that noise until my first oil change. And when I got a few thousand miles into that oil change it would be less noisy and then when a new oil change came it would be loud again until the oil had a few thousand miles on it. But after a bottle of ceratec I haven’t had it make the noise anymore yet.

No I don’t work in the automotive industry. Just specifying what has worked for me and there’s numerous forums on here with other users having similar results. Also ceratec is just the product not the company.
