Owner of a 2017 GT and curious to know if a swap is doable with a 2018 motor? Just thinking down the road and when/if I ever need another engine, can I use a Gen3 in my Gen2? Looks like ford performance quit making the gen2 aluminator so trying to see what other options there are for a 'quick' replacement.

The hot thing seems to be a Gen 3 short block, Gen 2 heads and Gen 1 timing components. If you do a youtube search on the subject, Gen 3 2 1 coyote, lots of good stuff comes up.

Why would you use gen 1 timing components?

On a '17 car you wouldn't. You would run Gen 2 timing components as well. They are doing the 3 2 1 set-ups on Gen 1 cars. You need whichever timing components your car's PCM is. So the cams etc for a Gen 2 car would be what he would need. It's just what I would search on YouTube to get an idea of what to do moving forward with the OP's question.

The only thing you really need is head studs.

Litterally just have the bare gen3 shortblock (block, pistons, crank) then add all the gen 2 stuff (heads, timing, cams, oil pan, oil pump, etc.).

You can always buy built engines from other people too.

You can use gen3 long block but you will need to have it tuned for the different timing components and you will need to have the direct injection removed (I think there is a kit). I think the gen3 timing components will work if you have it tuned, but not sure.

A lot of people do the 3-2-1 swap and it is possible in your case to do a 3-2-2. How much power are you trying to make? We could spec you out a custom engine based on your needs and can make it much stronger than stock!

Already have the 9.5:1 aluminator, need to upgrade my v3 blower first to a V7. Im sure ill hit 900rwhp and then from there its a crap shoot on how long the engine would hold. Just surprised how they would just stop selling the gen 2 aluminator

To be fair appreciate the reach out though, I actually reached out to you guys last year before I put in my current setup for a quote and no one got back to me....2.24.21

I am sorry to hear no one reached out to you, if in the future you ever need anything please call and ask for me, my name is Hunter.

As for the aluminator, they are pretty good block, but without sleeves I would not trust them over 1000 hp, if you do turn it up and it does end up needing some work we can get you a price on a motor that will meet your needs!
