Engine shuts down if start/stop button is pushed WHILE DRIVING !!

It needs to be able to shut the engine down, but it can't be so easy that inadvertent shutdowns occur. There are situations where a too-easy shutdown could itself become the safety concern.

Not quite ready for prime time . . . never mind that it's nothing more than a needlessly re-invented wheel.

Yeah I will agree, I have always been concerned about accidentally shutting my car off. I'm by no means trying to defend Ford on this issue I can't stand my Mustang I have problems every other day.

It would restart in Neutral as well as Park, so if you were to do something so foolish at speed, you wouldn't actually have to stop to restart the engine.

I think for safety reasons it needs to shut off if you hit the button. Once in my 08 GT my floor mat got stuck on top of gas pedal and I had to shut the car down I was going close to 55 by the time I got it shut down.

Never happening. Too many blown engines.

Anyone know how to duplicate the accessory position of the key with a vehicle with a keyed iginition?

Here in Oregon, we still have pump attendants. I can turn the radio on with the radio power button, but from what I've seen, the only way to activate the power windows is to actually press the start button and start the vehicle (not kosher if the car is connected to a gas pump!). I'd like to know if there's a way to roll the window down without starting the car to communicate with the pump attendant (other than rolling the window down before you turn the car off or opening the door).

"Accessory" = Push Start, but with your foot OFF of the brake pedal. Windows will work, as will other electrical features. Note that this mode will time-out after ~15-20 min.

For just the radio, skip the PTS button, and simply turn on the audio system with its button in the dash. I think there is no time-out limit, so this is what to use while you wash your car.

I would rather have a blown engine than personal injury to my wife and myself. Threw mine in neutral and killed the key, it was an automatic. Walker ford put the non factory mats into the car when I bought it.

I was having some trouble with my cruise, and shut mine down/restarted at highway speed. My BCM is all but fried from an unfortunate visit to an exhaust shop though..

I asked the dealer not to warranty it. The shop that damaged it and my other components refused to pay for the repairs, so I repaired it myself. Now, I'm going to sue them for my time and money invested in their screw up. Car's back to 100% now.

Haven't tried it yet...but once again, no ignition key. So you can't turn the ignition to run without hitting the "start" button...so a traditional bump start (from a low battery or faulty starter) is out of the question. I'll have to experiment with it and find out if you can pop the clutch with the car still rolling after a stall and see if it restarts ;) So far, though, every time I've killed the car is because automatic drivers ahead of me are starting really slow, and the 750 RPM idle setting of the Ecoboost is really too low. Almost every other computer controlled stick I've owned idles at 1,000 RPM...

Well most FI engines if the battery is completely dead you cant bump start it.
As long as there is juice to power the ECU you should be able to bump start the car.
As for stalling, give it gas when you moving off. I never understand why someone would use just the idle to move off and then get on gas.

You can't always give it gas if the driver ahead of you is a real slowpoke to get going . . . unless you don't mind riding the clutch a whole lot more than necessary.

If your foot timing is off, it is entirely possible to stall. Nobody's perfect at this, every single time.

As for stalling, give it gas when you moving off. I never understand why someone would use just the idle to move off and then get on gas.

Let's put it this way, my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire GT had 276,000 miles on it when I sold it this summer. I was the original owner (bought it new off the lot in 1999!). Never once had to touch the clutch in it, despite driving it in the heart of Portland (Oregon) rush hour traffic for many years
