does Sunoco still have 94. Try to get the highest you can and see if there is any difference.

Mine went through two full tanks of 93 before shipping out west, it only has about 15 miles on 91. I would certainly not call this pinging. It's definitely a rattle/clatter noise of some sort.

Ive had my GT350 since 12/15. At first I didn't hear it, but after about a hundred miles or so, I started to notice it. I thought it was my trany, but after reading this thread, I can see that it is not. If I let the car warm up, the noise goes away just as others have described it.

This is just a +1. I am experiencing the same thing as others. FWIW, thanks for the info. It makes me feel better knowing that this is a widespread issue and not a problem.
Just because it's a widespread issue, it doesn't mean it's not a problem.

Maybe, but if it is so widespread that we all are hearing it after only a few hundred miles, it is practically guaranteed that Ford would have seen it in their testing. IMO it isn't anything to worry about.

Could it be pinging from bad fuel. Just a out of the box thought. Maybe it was brought up before.
It is most certainly NOT 'pinging'.
See my description of the noise and how you can make it happen.

It only occurs under VERY light load.
Not at all like pinging due to pre-detonation which happens mostly under load.

I've built quite a few engines and have ruined enough of them.
Learned the hard way as a kid what pinging is and what it can do.

FWIW,

I agree with this, no way it's not a common aspect of the engine just maybe some of us are more prone to hearing it. I am however surprised that it wouldn't have been mentioned in the owners manual.

So does anyone have plans to take it to the dealer and have it assessed?

I think I heard the sound you guys are talking about. I didn't associate the sound with the word "rattle" previously. It's hard to say for certain that what I'm hearing is the same thing you are talking about. However, I can tell you that the sound I heard is a repetitive higher pitched mechanical noise. It's very quiet - I probably wouldn't notice it with the radio on or if the exhaust is in sport mode. And it's a similar noise that I heard from my 2015 GT, and from my 2011 GT, and from my 2011 V6. If we are talking about the same noise, I think it's either the timing chains, cam phasers, or some other common component used in Ford TiVcT engines.

I already have.
Their technician couldn't hear it.

The owners manual is a silly place to put any information of significance - I think we've already proven that

This would make sense. What I heard didn't so much sound like a rattle, more like a mechanical sound. The little 2.0 liter in my RSX makes the same noise under 3000 rpms. It could just be something common with engines that use variable cam timing.

Does anyone have any sound clip of it yet?

I'm going to try to get a sound clip of it this weekend. I've got a remote mic that I can put in the engine bay.

As far as taking it to the dealer, I'm trying to avoid that as long as possible because it's such a hassle and as one of the posters above mentioned, they tend to pull crap like say "we don't hear it" or "works as designed" and it ends up being a big waste of time.
