I struggle with this concept of torque to yield on the caliper bolts. They are screwed into aluminum hubs, right?...
I have the studs and like them. Continuously screwing bolts into aluminum makes me nervous. Too easy to gall the threads; even strip them. Also, changing pads is easy.
FWIW
I did consider that. The hole in the bell housing is much bigger than the slot in the bracket.
It'd mean a small bolt in a large hole.
A solution I thought about this morning (like you're suggesting) was to make a short bracket extension which bolts to the bell housing hole and then put a bolt...
Got the Pantera off the lift and put the GT350R back on it to change to track wheels and tires.
Here's the pics of the braces installed with my tywrap solutions.
Replying to my own message...
I installed these today.
As noted, didn't take long.
My only complaint is once these are on, the factory hose and cooling tube mounts no longer fit.
I ended up using a small tywrap on the driver's side and a couple through the spare hole on the passenger side for...
I ordered this kit. Enough mechanical experience in the good old oil field that it seemed reasonable to me.
Put the car up on the lift and.... I guess I don't need them!
My 2020 GT350R LR217 already has the block modified, as far as I can tell.
See the attached pics.
I'll donate my kit to my...
Yup. That's what we all saw for engine oil temperatures; just slightly over 270.
For me, having run in vintage racing for some years, anything below 300F is good.
I'll keep it simple.
4 x GT350R's were at the Drivers Edge event at MSR Houston this last weekend.
It was HOT! Above 100F both days.
Everyone ran all weekend.
Nobody had any failures. Oil temps were all nominal.
My son and I drove our cars there and back both days.
Lots of comments from other...
I have a friend who has my old 2016 GT350.
He's getting on in years and loves the car, but hates it darting all over on the road, even with new Michelin PS4's.
Stock caster is 5.81 degrees.
My usual solution is add more caster to stop 'tram lining', but is there anything else that can help the...
I had a 2001 Lightning. Sold it with 185K miles on it. Ran great and drove great.
I pulled an open trailer with my Pantera to Pocono and back from Houston.
No problem other than gas mileage....
Pulled a 28' enclosed with it, too. GT40 inside from Houston to Road America and back.
In a side wind...
