Engine Failure with 600 Miles - 2018 Mustang GT Base.

I bought my car two and a half weeks ago, drove only 600 miles, after picking up my son at school we stopped at a traffic light and the car made a strange noise and the engine died, it never started again. I called road assistance and they towed to the dealer where I bought it, Metro Ford Miami. After the diagnosis they said the engine was gone and that it would have to be replaced, I was wondering if this had happened at high speed what could have happened... They ordered a new engine. After knowing about all these other cases of engine failure, I am considering return the car. I have not even made my first payment and I have to go through this problem, unreal, it's not fair.

Return the car. Ford made a bad batch of engines. Fanboys here will say only a handful of engines failed. They are full of it. Get another (2019) Mustang or get out completely.

Talk to your dealer and see if they can't just swap the car for you with Ford. Within 1000 miles and not even a month old, hopefully they'll try to help you out.

At the very least they could give you a loaner Mustang in the meantime.

You can return a car after 2 weeks and 600 miles?

Anyways, life isn't fair, and it will all be taken care of. No worries. Just make sure the dealership provides you with a free car to drive while they fix yours.

Lemon law if less than 30 days? Return it for a new car. Dealer should give you a new car.

Unless your oil hit the roadway, the car would simply have made some noise and come to a stop. Wheels locking up could have happened, but rare.
Plenty of '18' leftovers still out there at 6-8k off msrp.

Yes "stuff" happens but it seems insane to pay full retail for a car that's resale value is already hindered with less than 1k miles on it.

OP I would demand a new car. A catastrophic failure that new means it absolutely wasn't fit for the purpose bought. Unless they are willing to compensate heavily for loss of value along with the new engine.

1 forum post, 1 failure. It's why it seems like there are larger problems than really exist.

Sorry to hear this happened. You can go in and demand anything you want, but that doesn't mean you'll get anything you demand. The dealer is doing what is required of him, and that's exactly what the warranty is meant for. Good luck on your decision. I hope the dealer can help you out in other ways

If the engine can be replaced, that's probably what they will want to do. But I would ask the dealer if you can get a different car and not have to wait. It will be up to the dealer to accommodate you or not. At the very least, they should give you a rental car.

Engine failure at 600 miles is very scary. I would love to know what caused the failure. It had to be some major defect in the engine, somewhere.

You re not that far away from me. I have a base GT as well- I came from a 2017 Camaro with a bad tranny. I opted to get rid of the car altogether rather than live with it. So far 1800 miles on my GT and it's fine.

Demand a new car like a 2019. Ford probably knew just by your VIN that the motor was crap. Two different members here were told by the dealers from Ford that they had a batch of bad motors. So you could say they willingly sold you a car that was not fit for the purpose intended. Sales contract null and void. I’m no lawyer but get aggressive. Transfer the financing to a new 2019 even if you have to pay a little more. You don’t need that agro...

The Dealership can’t give the guy a new car, it has to go through Ford Corporate via processes.

He HAS to call the Ford 800# and get a Case going AND make damn sure he tells them how disgusted he is as a New Ford Owner. Since his vehicle is practically brand new, they should do a vehicle replacement (Ford Buy Back) with no cost coming out of his pocket... and if they try to get any $ out of him, he should then retort that he will hit every Ford Social Media site with his Ford new car ownership “experience”.

I would not even entertain an engine replacement at all.
