It's just because of losers who hydrolock their engine driving through a river, then scream "my engine blew up going to church". That's why there's so much documentation now for these kind of failures.

Glad you got her back though, here's to happy motoring.
That’s kinda funny because in my real job I’m a floodplain manager who is constantly telling people “turn around, don’t drown”…

Seems like the shop could pull the spark plugs and run a scope down the cylinders to see if there is any water. Same for water in the oil, but there may not be much oil left after a failure like this. I know my car puked oil and coolant everywhere when it popped. I’m sure the traffic behind me was hating me…

Sounds like maybe it didn't downshift and briefly lugged the engine. I have a MT and I'm careful to avoid too much throttle when in cruise control, without a downshift... That sucks, but glad you're covered!
This shit is crazy. This is a well known thing to not do, ESPECIALLY on boosted cars and the fact there is nothing in the manual, no one at dealers mention it, and apparently there is no safety provision in the car itself to prevent it just seems so horribly handled on Fords part.

And honestly, i still don't even know what is going on when LSPI happens, but I do know when and what causes it. If you're in 10th and you need to punch it, just paddle down first.

Frankly, I don’t want to paddle downshift, I want the automatic to do that for me - automatically. I wanted the A10+turbo combo for that kind of functionality, and that’s what I expected to happen. This is entirely something that could have been tuned at Ford - find the safe rpm threshold for X psi of boost, and limit boost to X-2 psi until the appropriate downshift has occurred.
