The new motors take time to "feel out", and I understand use 10 qts of oil, mercy?
Make sure all the oil changes you have are "monitored" by you! I just got Motorcraft Semi-syn change because the tech's forgot about my Castrol Magnatec, 8 qts in the trunk, Dang!
Your car will be fine.

As for this engine... welp... throw in an extra couple thousand and get an Aluminator :)

UPDATE:

Dealer received the packing slip for the motor. They should have it Friday/Monday, so with any luck I should have the car back next week. He said they will not be taking the failed motor apart, instead shipping it back to Ford, so they won’t know what specifically failed or what caused it.

I find it hard to believe that Ford would not want to know what caused the motor to fail.

Sorry, I meant “the dealer won’t know the cause”, that is, unless Ford gets back to them with it.

Did they say what caused it? did it drop a valve? seems like the early motors had valve retainer issues
I was watching a show the other night about new Corvette motors being assembled and the valve springs and retainers were installed by a robot. Not sure if the coyote is the same but don’t really like that idea. We always used to give the valve a little rap after the retainers were installed to make sure they were seated. Every once and awhile one would come apart.

FINAL UPDATE!

I got my car back today! 11 days down total. Brand new motor installed with a build date of March 17th, 2018, and without even asking they gave me the Premium Care ESP for it. They took care of me for sure.

I asked about the failed motor again, and they said they opened the head and saw what they saw and didn’t bother going any further. They said most likely it dropped a valve.

Nice! 11 days down isn’t bad at all considering. Sounds like a competent dealership.

That's awesome. I would say your dealer had something to do with this. Impressive, for sure. Would love to know what the issues are.

I feel bad for someone putting a tune on the 2018 because if that engine fails and Ford finds the CPU was reflashed, there may be a warranty claim denial.

One of the reasons I like buying a car used. Not just for depreciation issues, but because most cars by 20K miles have had the stuff that going to happen, happen.

Back when I was responsible for powertrain service, we had a practice with new engine or transmission designs where for the first 6 months to a year we did not allow dealers to do much more than routine service for the new engines or transmissions. If the dealer had to open the transmission case or remove a cylinder head, we would instead direct them to return the engine or trans for a long block or full transmission replacement. Then we would expedite the returned unit back to Engineering for a full root cause analysis. This was pretty simple to implement. We simply would not provide the tools or service parts required to do more than surface level repair and maintenance. I’m pretty certain Ford does the same. We would tell the dealer what we found if they asked, but we would never communicate directly to the customer.

Hmmm....so much for THAT theory. This thread proves me wrong —>https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99999
