Just happened to me too this morning, car has FRPP x pipe and axle back mufflers.. otherwise completely stock. This is the first issue I have had with the car, approaching 5000 miles. I was just leaving from home and happened about a mile into it, got the run mode active thing. Put on my hazards and coasted to the side, it started right up. I will report back if it happens again.

Thanks for updating us, it happened to me a third time again about a week and a half ago. Started my car up and it was sitting for about 5 min before I drove off again. When I left my house the car died about 2-3 minutes later while I was approaching a red light. I had the clutch pressed all the way down and dropped the car into neutral and started applying the brakes when the rpms just kept dropping and didn't catch idle.

The one good thing is the interval between the first two events I reported and this third occurrence was a lot longer. This may be a very random and stupid guess but I do keep my key in my pocket when I start my car up and run inside the house to do some last minute stuff, it could be that the car's key fob detection system might have a bug where it thinks the key is not in the car anymore even when I come back from inside and get in the car and shuts off based on that feature. Again, totally wild and random guess, could very well be ECU related.

Any of you guys that had the engine shut off problem still having it? My issue has since disappeared but I followed up with a dealer visit and I talked with the service manager. Not that its part of a break in period under any normal circumstances but he told me that in some cases, it takes the engine computer some time to "learn" how you drive the car before the computer data snychs properly and eliminates the issue that causes random shut off that I had previously experienced. I'm sure there is a more technical explanation but at 1200 miles now, it seems to have all but disappeared as an issue. I can tell you that I have deliberately tried to repeat the shutdown issue over the last month using the know circumstances that have done it in the past-- and it has NOT shut down once. I will report back if I have any more issues but I dont anticipate that I will at this point.

Just curious for a reference point, if most that have had this issue had them with less than 1K miles? And if so, are you still having issues past that point? Anyway, just wanted to follow up with everyone with my progress on this in case it helps anyone else out.

Haven't experienced it lately but I only drive the car on weekends. The first did happen right around at 500 and probably occurred a few more times after. Now at 1,500 miles and the last 500 miles have been issue free so far but I have seen that some have experience if for the first time at 5K miles.

Have not experienced again since the one time. Now that I have said that, today will be #2.

I have about 5,000 miles on my GT. No Mods. Twice while coasting to a stop, my engine has died. It starts right back up, but the second time I was crossing a train track. Lucky for me, there was no train that day. I have not taken it to the dealer. I know they won't be able to recreate the error. It's so random.

Had a similar experience again Friday. Was on a 10-15 mile trip and pulled over at a roadside stop for about 10 minutes. Got back in the car and hit the start button. Started right up, then proceeded to shut right back off. Pressed it again and all was normal. Been normal all weekend. Was a very hot day outside, but temp gauge was normal.

Had this happen to me twice this week. Anybody have any luck with this? I looked online seems like causes could be electric or a fuel pump. Mine didn't even sputter though. Just clutch to the floor and when I went to pull away from the light I noticed the engine wasn't on. Started back up fine. Starting to get nervous to drive it though.

Fourth Occurrence (6/18/2015):

So this is the fourth time this happened to my car and it happened in the same exact place as the last time (the third occurrence as mentioned in post #62). I drove the car off my driveway and 2-3 minutes later it as I approach a stop light I push the clutch in and the rpms just drop and the car dies. (Run power active shows up on screen again) Start is right back up and she's back to normal again....

Dropped it off at the dealer. I'm not super optimistic about them fixing it. And they gave me a damn focus as a loaner.

Update. I left it there this weekend and today I am getting it back. What a shocker that they could not duplicate the issue.

The service manager told me to bring it back if it starts happening more frequently. If it happens again I think I will call Ford themselves. I cannot believe they would put a car with this kind of issue back on the road after just checking for codes and driving it once to see if it did it.

Sometimes it is very hard to duplicate the issue. I guess they can hold the car for a months waiting for the issue to be duplicated, but I guess it will not be ok with you.
It is frustrating when this is related to the sensor, that sometimes work, and sometimes doesn't and there is not yet any known pattern of faults.

Would you prefer they keep it until it happens again? What if that takes months?

It's even worse when it's control unit or software related with no codes or means to diagnose.
