Is there anyway to eliminate the cats without a tune on these cars? I'm not 100% sure I want to risk voiding the powertrain warranty yet with a tune, but I'd love to make it scream (even more). I'm thinking about my 97 cobra that used a plug that went between the rear O2 sensors to keep the CEL off.

Dang, here is something I found using your idea. This is a mini set of cats! it's for a Porsche, but this would be perfect, it's the same threads.

MIL eliminators do not work on modern cars because they all are wide band 02 sensors now. I was able to use bung adaptors that pull the 02 sensor out of the exhaust flow, and only allow a small amount of exhaust to reach the 02 sensor, therefore tricking it that the cats are still working correctly.

As far as I know this is the only fix, other than having them turned off in the tune (not emission legal), which still allows then car to pass emissions.

This is the one I prefer

Ok, so it sounds like a standard spacer should be enough without spending $250 on the mini cats. I think I'll give it a go and report back. I need to get my car on the Dyno for a factory pull before I mod anything so it'll be a couple months to let it warm up a bit and get it broken in.

I got mine from Whoosh Motorsports, great prices and great customer service. The company is one of the top vendors for the Fiesta ST Ecoboost platform. It's a few dollars cheaper from them compared to Summit.

I installed some spacers with mine when I installed the lethal race pipes and resonator delete. Was also looking to avoid tuning the car for the time being. I’m going on 500 miles with no CEL.

Not setting off CEL is not the same as needing a tune or not. So is a tune needed or not when removing cats? What about headers and no cats? Obviously it's better to have a tune but is there chance to run lean after freeing up cat restriction and no tune?

Your fine, the car's ECM is capable of compensating for no cats. The "tune" is mostly for turning off the Cat over temp protection.

I like to disassemble things.
If you are eliminating the cats you've already crossed the threshold. Given the cost of a replacement engine, I wouldn't f*ck around with Fox era "fixes" and I'd get a tune from a professional. Be fast, be loud, and be completely safe. Palm Beach Dyno all the way.

Removal of the cats is reversible, that’s why I was asking. I’m sure you already figured that out, but that was my motivation. Walking the razors edge between warranty and no warranty.

I already have a ngauge on order from Lund. So I’m not 100% against a tune, simply haven’t decided to pull that trigger yet.
