They share the same block, heads and most internals. If I'm not mistaken.
You are. If you really want to say they're all part of the "coyote family" then sure but the similarities end there. The bore spacing alone makes the block different. Completely different crank (coyote is cross plane the voodoo is flat plane), different firing order, different rods (sintered forged to forged steel), different pistons (hypereutectic to forged aluminum), different heads, different intake manifold, different valves, different valve springs etc. It would probably be easier to list what's the same if you wanted to look up a part breakdown. The gen 3 coyote bridges the gap in some areas but also grows further apart in others.

Dfeeds, can you list a source for the bore spacing and different crank journal size and spacing? You didn't list it but if the bore centers are different then the heads would also be a different casting.

Eco-boost will walk a GT in a part-throttle contest... you will loose and never even know it.

Looking at the torque curves an EB is likely to pull away from a GT if both are floored at 2000-3000 rpm. After that the Coyote starts to make more torque than the 4.

I've owned two different EB's over 4 years, second one had FRRP tune. I can attest to this comparison, have a section of (uphill) road that is 1/2 mile of 5% grade. Try your scenario and the EB will pull harder and win until the Coyote gets closer to 3500 rpm.

Bottom line, street light to street light driving at part-throttle, the eco-boost rules, they are part-throttle beasts.

The NA GT responds quicker (unless the Eco is brake boosting or something) so it will likely be a wash. But once the GT gets to 4000 its game over.

Ya ok. Ill sit there in first at 2k rpm. Floor it. By the time I'm at 7k rpm the eco is just passing 4k rpm. More to it than just "torque curves".

yeah, those fan made scenarios are hilarious... IF the GT has a flat tire, it's a manual and the driver is missing one arm, and it has old gas, and the eco boost is 10 speed, fresh e85 fuel, and it is a Wednesday, from 2k rpm to 3k rpm, if we race using only 50% of the gas pedal travel, the eco boost will be faster because more torque lol

no matter how you measure it, straight line or curves, the ecoboost owns the "part throttle" sweet spot. You will lose in the "part throttle" kill zone that the ecoboost prowls in.

I never intended this to become a which is faster thread. I simply was wondering if I would be happy with an eco boost as a daily.

I know myself and I would hate the fact it is a 4 banger.

Well, since you already know then it was a moot, useless question and wasted 6 pages of forum space...

Of course the V8 will outrun the EB, DUH! But I find it extremely interesting the V8'ers feel the need to vehemently defend themselves against it...
