As a guy who owned both cars... Go V8 unless you have a very specific reason not to. One guy I know really liked tinkering with turbo 4 bangers. It was his thing. The EB made him happy. It's a fine choice.

But if there is any doubt, any question, any burning what if regret you might feel, go V8 and be done. Never heard a V8 guy say 'damn, I wish I bought a four', but you hear plenty of the opposite, my friend.

All I know is my GT gets 28 mpg with cruise control set at 75 mph

My car has only 3000 miles on it

My gt barely hovers over 14mpg. :(

But then again, the sound makes it worth it. :D

A fellow old lady. I don't feel so lonely any more....
It gets better highway mileage than my EB Ford 150

Of course if you play, you have to pay and your mpg drops to
about 15 mpg

To me the sound of the V8 was a compelling factor. I had a 2013 V6 vert before this and sorely regretted not getting the V8 even though that V6 was a very nice engine. Also the response of NA V8 is different than a turbo 4. When the 2015 came out, I knew I had to have it and wasn't gonna miss out on getting the V8. I don't regret my decision this thing is a beast.

That being said, the Ecoboost is a very good choice and a great car in its own right. The V8 IMO is just more befitting a Mustang. I think the V8 makes it more fun.

But if the V8 is not that important to you, the Ecoboost is a great car and handles really well as everyone has mentioned already. I could have some fun with one of those. But I can't miss that V8 sound, makes me smile every time.

1/2 a second seperates the GT and EB/PP so there is really no difference in 0-60 times which is where most legal driving occurs
Someone's 0-60 claims of only being .5 seconds slower doesn't hold up
Yes there is a difference and you can definitely feel it.

What about insurance?

Everyone on this thread has been comparing the mpgs between the EB and GT.
What about insurance? When I tried to decide between a GT or a Premium EB convertible...my insurance agent whistled when she calculated the difference.
I was surprised that I ended up paying only $40/year more for the EB than my 2014 3/4 ton pickup.
I am getting about 50% better mpgs over my 2010 GT and 10-15 more horsepower. It also handles more like a Euopean sportscar than a lumber truck like the old GT. Of course, the vert doesn't rattle my neighbor's windows.

This.

Wasn't there an investigation that the EB gets slower as it ages or something like that?

There are so many factors in determining insurance premiums that it's really hard to compare to what others are paying. What may be true for you may not be true for someone on the other side of the country or even in the next county over for that matter.

If you have the money to get either one, get the GT. The EB is a nice-handling car due to its light front-end, and it gets solid gas mileage for a 300+hp turbo (I average 14-15 in the GT :frusty:), but it just doesn't compare to the high-revving Coyote. The power, the sound, and the speed are amazing. You can make an Ecoboost fast, and it already handles well, but you will never be able to create a comparable sound to the GT, and you'll kill your engine eventually while the GT will keep taking power mods like a boss.

I guess what I'm saying is, while it is a great car,

Stock: GT
Modded: GT

i cant believe this is still a thing. we've been driving around in our 5.0s for almost 2 years now and people are still wondering which car to get. we've already figured it out for you years ago.

You are comparing an EB automatic Mustang in which that article was written in 2014 (most likely preproduction and supplied by Ford) to an Edmunds long term road test manual GT in which they couldn't control wheel spin?
Show me some consistent reviews of the EB getting a 5.2 0-60, not just one test. I guarantee I can show plenty of reviews with GTs getting mid 4s.

I wish I was getting closer to 14-15mpg in my GT. Right now with my auto 3:15 GT I get about 12.8-13mpg, I don't even think I've seen over 13 yet. Mainly city driving.
