EB or GT?

Oh please, let's stop with the whole EB inferiority complex thing. Anyone who measures my worth as a man or whatever by how much money I spent on my car is not someone I want to be around in any capacity. And no one should feel bad because their ride doesn't have x number of cylinders.

I love V8s and the rumble they make, but the dick measuring is getting old. Not to mention, the V8s (and internal combustion engines in general) will eventually go away completely. When that happens, will we say that none of the new Mustangs are "real Mustangs" because they don't have a V8?

And just for the record, in my 6 months of so of ownership I haven't heard any nasty comments or seen any disrespectful looks. I have had 3 total strangers compliment my car out of the blue, and that has never happened to me.

You can never have enough HP IMO. I did motor upgrades to my Fatboy that dbl'd the power and its still not enough. I'm wacky like that. My GT is staying stock tho ... for now :headbonk:

If you're trying to convince yourself the EB is "enough", then just get the GT. I'm sure you've read all the posts about people trading in their EB for a GT. I've never heard anyone regretting getting a GT over a EB premium. What's more important, the engine or a few luxury features? Ok, yea luxury is nice but you can always add that in. That tiny 4" screen surrounded by buttons was becoming an eyesore so I updated the interior a bit.

Buy once, cry once: Just get the GT now and save yourself the depreciation on the EB when you trade it in for the GT later. The EBs kick ass on autocross for sure, but there are tons and tons of "EB to GT" threads here.

I don't think I've seen one the other way 'round yet.

There are a handful of people who have traded a GT for an EB, but yeah for the most part it's the other way around. You're correct about the depreciation. EBs do lose value quickly.

Yeah, I read that, but it doesn't invalidate the other statements. I understand where you're coming from, especially if people were giving you shit on your bike choice. Which I don't understand at all, by the way. Why someone would rip on you for buying the more agile bike which you could probably use to run circles around them is beyond me (then again I'm not into Harleys). But that's exactly the kind of behavior I hate to propagate in the Mustang/car community.

I've gotten this question many times in my 1 1/2 year of having my V6 and have only gotten dead silence once. This chick who works at Total Wine asked me how much cylinders my car has and I said "SIX" and she just said "OH", and then dead silence... I would have been embarrassed but she looked like a ghetto hoodrat so I didn't even care. This one cute girl who works in my building saw me getting out of my car once and she was like "wow, your car is hecka nice".

The funny thing I observed though is these people really cannot distinguish the visual differences between the 3. I could have easily said my car is a V8 and they would have believed me, of course I wouldn't do that.

I agree though, that "what engine do you have" question can be a bit intimidating for us non-v8 owners. Eventually you just stop caring and enjoy the crap outta your vehicle....or you trade up.

And then the suspension mods, sigh. . . Need to develop my "its only money" speech to the wifey, who is not on board. . . .

If you personally earned the $$$ and the bills are paid, then spend it how you want. My wife does not tell me how to spend my money.

Not a lot cheaper. I just built one online and the EB with PP came at $35,500 with the premier interior. WTF? I'd rather go with the base GT with PP.

lol the GT isn't going to kill you. The power is very linear and even feels like it has less low end than the EB. The people who drive up the insurance for GTs are just plain reckless drivers

Next time someone asks ill just be like "Its the V6 Ecoboost GT". From my past experience with people who don't know anything about the car but ask what the engine is, they'll probably be like "Damn nice!, I heard those things were fast".

I'm sure this debate has been beaten to death, but the Search function didn't give me much info.

I'm debating between a convertible EB or GT MT premium. There's no denying that V8 growl is intoxication, and a blast to drive, but I'm also thinking it might kill me and/or suspend my license.

I currently have a rental EB Premium in A8, and its decently powerful. I drove the EB MT and the GT MT today, and they both were great drives, although obviously the GT had the "wow" factor.

I used to race liter bikes, but then dropped down to small Ninja 300's after realizing its more fun to ride a slow bike fast, instead of a fast bike slow. Since I don't plan on tracking the 'stang, (at least now), I'm trying to convince myself the EB is "enough", but also realize I'll probably have buyer's remorse with whatever decision I make.

If you've been through the same internal debate, which way did you go, and are you happy with your decision?

If you can afford gas, insurance and the car itself, go for the GT.

Not 100% sure I'm following. So the choice is an EB Premium convertible vs. a GT Premium Coupe? If you're a "convertible person", there is _no_ substitute.

Both convertibles, heck, you'd probably have fun with either, and with the EB you could do the Performance Package which is $1000 less vs. the GT's PP (at last for MY17).

I have to say, when I bought this Mustang, there was never a consideration of a non-GT, I would've gone with an entirely different vehicle.

If you want it to sound awesome you'll need a good catback exhaust, so plan on dropping $1,500 on that.

There are quite a few options for about 1/2 that - there's 10+ exhausts $700 or less in the For Sale section at any time - or do some nice Axle back ($400-500) - or wait for a promo from a company like Solo and picked up one of their cat-back systems for $750-ish.

Get the GT. Based on your initial post, you will regret it otherwise.
I did. I ended up selling the EB privately and getting the GT.

I recommend the Base GT with PP. You can upgrade the seats to leather (Katzkins) and get a touchscreen for cheap if you need those.

The EB feels underpowered in comparison to the GT. While it is very amenable to mods, that requires rolling the dice and basically kissing your warranty goodbye. If you don't care about warranty, the EB is a great lightweight platform. Come to think of it, if you go EB and are planning to Tune it, you may as well by a used one. They have poor resale and not much sense in paying a premium for a new one if you are going to kill the warranty anyhow.

The stock EB has a horrible intercooler, which you need to replace if you want consistent performance, especially if you live in a hot area.

Just get the GT!
