You are comparing an EB automatic Mustang in which that article was written in 2014 (most likely preproduction and supplied by Ford) to an Edmunds long term road test manual GT in which they couldn't control wheel spin?
Show me some consistent reviews of the EB getting a 5.2 0-60, not just one test. I guarantee I can show plenty of reviews with GTs getting mid 4s.
He's cherry picking statistics to support his position in the most favorable light. Its somewhat disingenuous, but people do it all time. One could just as easily do the opposite and pick
GT: 4.3 0-60 (Car and Driver)
EB: 6.3 0-60 (Motor Trend)

Which would be a 2 second difference.

I can only speak from my own experience having owned both vehicles. The EB was quick, but the GT is fast. The EB suffers from a horrible stock IC and its motor falls on its face above 4500-5000 rpm. There is literally nothing from 5000 rpm to redline in the factory tune.

The GT feels considerably quicker and can really push you back into your seat. A buddy who drives a 911 drove both my mustangs and agreed. While the EB is more nimble going into corners, the GT is much faster.

This shouldn't even be a question. As an Ecoboost owner, if i had to do it again I would have got the GT. The Ecoboost is fun to drive and power really is what turns me off about it, its the sound. Even with an exhaust it does not compare to a GT. So, if you can afford it, get the GT. But you wont be disappointed with the ecoboost if you dont mind the sound of a 4cy turbo.

EB's driven correctly are like 5.4-5.6 for 0-60 secs about a second behind the GT.

Everyone talks 0-60...After 60mph the gap widens greatly between the two. According to car and driver, 0-100 is 4 sec slower in the EB. The GT is a good 10 mph faster in the 1/4 mile. The 0-60 is close because the GT's lack of traction.

EB
0-100 14.4
0-130 31sec

GT
Zero to 100 mph: 10.5 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 18.0 sec
Zero t0 140 mph: 21.5 sec

Some of us don't buy the most car we can afford, we buy the car that fits our needs. I can afford a GT350, and Several Porsche models but I don't need to impress others with exhaust sound, HP numbers, 0-60 times, 1/4 mile or fancy manufacturer emblems.

So as an Ecoboost owner I can tell you that the Ecoboost with the Performance Package is an excellent car for an excellent price. Apparently you need constant reinforcement from your car in the form of exhaust sound so trade in your Ecoboost for a GT.

And I would expect the GT to walk away from the EB in that scenario, but how often does that really matter? Answer, never in my daily driving.

I never drag race and the max speed limit is 55 where I live so I can legally get up and go to 60 without breaking the law. I don't drive on the highway. All of my driving is done on back country roads where the EB/PP really shines thanks to better handling characteristics than any GT.

It is all a matter of taste and circumstances.

That was the case with me, I could've bought the GT350, or a Corvette. But, I knew this was going to be my fun car/weekend car, so spending quite a bit more just didn't make sense to me. As for the OP choosing between the two? . . . . . Get what fits you best, and what you can afford. I personally don't give a sh*t what anyone drives. I hang with EB guys, GT guys, GM guys, and Mopar guys. It's all good to the WhiteyDog.

If I wanted to finance a car, I could have bought almost anything. That being said, I tried the EB and was not satisfied. I tried the GT, and was happy. Some folks are happy with the EB, and good on them. But if you're questioning it before even buying the car... best to go GT.

You're missing the point. It's not about reinforcement from others. It's about if YOU like the sound. Personally I don't care what other people think. Driving a Mustang, I wanna hear that V8 growl and I'm guessing I'm not alone.

If you can afford a GT (even a bare bones GT). Get that, you can find those things for like 32k. You will be in the *cool kids* club instead of being that kid that everyone picks on (but some still like).

If you can't afford a GT, go find a used V8.

I couldn't afford a GT and I didn't want a used Mustang so I bought a V6 for like 21k....and that was already expensive enough for me.

Try driving a non-v8 Mustang

I know, brother. When you drive a non-V8 Mustang, the exchange almost always goes like this.

Other person: "whoa, nice Mustang!"
You: "Thanks!"
Other person: "V8?"
You: "No, I got the (EB or V6)."
Other person: *disappointed look* "Cool, bro."
You: "It makes more than 300 horses!"
Other person: "Oh." *walks away*

Now individually, each instance of this doesn't mean squat. But if you drive the non-V8 long enough, you get f*cking tired of this. It was almost worth it to go GT just to not hear this crap at every meet, every race track, and every driveway.

Well put, and this matches my situation nicely. All alone, or maybe with my son (aspiring to be a tech, working his way up at the moment, upgraded him to my 2005 V6 convertible upon HS graduation...) I am able to let it rip in the country. It doubles as a date night car, and the wife does NOT like me stepping on it (post tune I spun out at a light accidentally and she was freaked).

Bama 93 octane race tune and very little else my best 0-60 is 5.3 and I don't regularly bother to run those much now. Like everyone else I'm wondering where the end of the rainbow is, the last part to install and just be happy.

With my 2005 V6 it was converting it to a Pony package with stripes, done.

That gives me hope I can stop with the 2015 also!

The other day I saw a really nice EB. The guy had aftermarket exhaust and was revving his engine like an idiot. My friend who was in the car with me said, "Sounds like a rice rocket. I don't like that at all."
