Even if you are comparing the ecoboost to the 14gt performance wise, its nothing a few bolt ons cant fix :)

You do mean the S550 Ecoboost right? Because there is no way the 14GT will leave the 15GT in the dust. I would bet 2 pennies that speed will be at least the same in a straight line and around a track it will not compare. Knowing full well that you love your new car (as you should since the '14 is outstanding), I think you are drastically underestimating how much of a difference an improved chassis and suspension can make, including a more squat stance, better weight distribution and everything else we know about. It's not just about brute power anymore for the Mustang, tho if you want that it's still there.
Couldn't agree more. Not just an upgraded interior but everything down to the floorpan. It's not just what you can see and the numbers on paper. Don't get me wrong I love my 2012 but the real test will be how it drives and I bet that is where it really separates itself from the outgoing model.

This ^^. IMHO, S550 is better in every way. And don't underestimate that turbo 4 either.

I haven't regretted my decision at all btw
Wait until S550 start delivering and driving side by side to your car. You may not regret but you won't be happy either.

I have had a very similar debate for the last several months and I have searched nation wide for 2014 mustangs and good price and you can't beat what they are going for new unless you find a dealer that is looking to move stock quick and under stands that with all the incentives the used car needs to be priced very aggressive. My debate has been 2015 gt guard 50th appearance package or a special edition 2014 like roush, saleen,Steeda serial numbered car or any supercharged 2014. I have gone back and forth on this so many times but at the end of the day I think a fully loaded 2014 even with all the suspension upgrades will not ride as well as a 2015. I continue to look and if the right deal came across I would jump on it but as of right now I want to drive the 2015 then make the final decision, For me to jump on a 2014 it would have to be a roush stage 3 at 35k or a gt/cs with glass roof for under 30k.

I'm in the minority on this site now and I realize this but... I decided not to wait and got a new 14 GT, and boy I couldn't be happier. Speed wise the gt will leave the s550 in the dust every time.

My guess is there's hp and torque that's been left on the table in the Ecoboost. Given that many turbos can see significant gain with just a tune and/or minor bolt ons and the big gains tuners are already getting out of other Ecoboost motors, I would not dismiss that motor.

Say a tuner comes out with a premium octane tune that gives the Eco an extra 20 hp and 50 lb ft of torque. Couple that with a performance pack and 52/48 weight distribution and you have a hell of a car. It still won't be as fast as an S197 GT but the gap will narrow considerably and it will handle 10 times better.

Now I find out that it only had 300HP and 300 ft/pounds of torque. The EB has more than that so I'm hoping it will be pretty darn fun to drive no matter what the engine noise is like.
While I agree the EB will be a kick to drive, just keep in mind that BMW 335i had 300 HP about like a 428 Cobra Jet had 335 HP. Sure it did, at some point along the horsepower curve, a LONG way from the peak! Seriously under-rated.

What is left out here is the torque number. That is a VERY important number to have in this discussion as it defines how that HP is built. The EB 2.3L will have 90% of available torque from 2000 RPM until redline. So 290 lb*ft of torque from basically the time you get on throttle until redline. I don't think the 5.0 even has that much torque at 2000 RPM. So that is one more thing to remember when talking about the EB's numbers.

I wouldn't be surprised if the lighter weight EB actually launches better and harder than the 5.0 then loses out at the top end.

It depends on what you want. Is price important? Do you really want a V8?

If you really want a V8 you should be able to find a smokin' deal on a new '14 GT right now if you look around. Find one with the Track Pack (Brembo brakes and suspension upgrades) and you'll probably be a happy guy.

The Evo community cranks out up to 900hp on Evos with a turbo 4..If the EB takes off and aftermarket companies develop for it you could have a fairly light weight car with a great chassis with near perfect balance with gobs of HP. Peole are selling the EB short but wait a year or so and see what happens.

With that said the V8 is a goner...if you want a V8 and don't plan on spending north of 100k and have a hybrid system included you better smokem while ya gottem..

I have this exact same problem...better engine and bold muscle car looks vs better vehicle and sportier looks is what it comes down to. Both cars are very similar stylistically, yet somehow completely different in terms of personality when you get to see them in person. The S550 really does have more of a sleek/Euro look to it vs the over the top American styling of the S197...Both are nicely styled, but for differing reasons for sure.

Be sure you get EXACTLY what you want, even if it means saving up and waiting until you can afford a '15 GT. I sold my '13 3.7 A6 w/Performance Package for a '13 5.0 Brembo/Recaro M6. Lost a lot of $ to say the least. Having 3rd gear lockout issues with my MT-82 has me considering another turbo 4 (owned 3 SRT-4's). The Competition Orange PP EB is really tempting.

Do not pay anywhere near 27.5 for a year-old, outgoing model GT with no BBP or track pack... That car could realistically be had for... 22k + tax private party? I think you'll have a bit of buyer's remorse on the GT come 2 years from now. If you really have 27.5k, wait for the 15's to hit the lots and I bet you could get a GT Premium or maybe a GT base w/ track pack for 27.5k at 500 under invoice plus the ~4k in current incentives. Let patience be your virtue, and look around the forums for the deals guys on AFM and TMS got on 2010 mustangs when the Coyotes came out. New GT's for 25k, no reason it can't happen again at an inflation-adjusted price.

I've priced 2014's with GT Premium, track pack, convenience pack right at 30k after incentives currently through car buying services, but haven't contacted a dealer. Best of luck!

3500 dollars in rebate on Mustangs plus more savings if you have A/Z plan or can procure an X plan. Only issue would be being able to find exactly what you want in Dearborn our stock is dwindling although I must say we never were considered a "big" Mustang store. I know there is a dealer in NC that is considered Mustang Central.
